Maybe someone can help find out how long it took for a past model to be released after Apple included the machine id in an os update?
Does having these new machine id's necessarily mean that there will be a new powerbook before Tiger gets released? Maybe they're just testing it? What does it all mean?

I thought that last time, and I think it's still valid. Just because it's in the base system commercial OS update does not mean that new systems are ready, or even close. The may have put it in there so any prototype machines have a stable release to fall back on while in testing.

10.3.4 (added the PowerMac7,3 spec) was released on May 26th, and the new liquid-cooled PowerMacs (which PowerMac7,3 refer to) was introduced June 9th.
Two weeks. That was the last updated one, anyway FWIW.
So who honestly believes -- in their heart of hearts -- that Apple will release all of the "new" Macs listed in that plist file at the Apple Paris Expo?

iMac G5 is a given.
PowerMac9,1 (?) seems like something other than a PowerMac.
The PowerBook G5 more than likely won't be ready by Paris Expo, but they're being worked on. The source code is available and all of these platforms have support built into 10.3.5.

not me
the program for paris doesn't seem to lend itself for a significant prduct release.

Just ask her former husband who lost his senate careeer over a lack of such things....
Sorry back on topic, I think that it is unlikely considering apple's current complete disarray in supply as of late. They can't even get a liquid G5 out the door in any great quantity.

i think it's rather telling that they are in the habbit of indicating when a product is 'Now Shipping'
they must know how they are percieved by their customers and that the perception is not favourble.
when the 30" actually ships I expect it will make the front page...
the interesting thing here is that SMU_Neo2_PlatformPlugin is mentioned in the Info.plist file, but the actual SMU_Neo2_PlatformPlugin.kext file is not included with 10.3.5:

So do you think i should wait then for the G5 to come out?
The most I can wait is until January. Should I wait until then?
What do you think guys? I'm a pretty poor student and I need smart purchasing.
Thanks.

I havea student discount, and if I add in bluetooth and wireless for the iBook, it isn't that much less than the 12 inch powerbook.
I have my mind set on getting a powerbook. but when?

not having access to the source code myself, are there any clues in the source to indicate what kind of hardware this is dealing with?
