The only thing Macs can do that PCs can't is run the MacOS.

    Stickies rule.

And run programs like FCP. And do firewire disk mode. And get several hours of use out of a full featured laptop. And protect your privacy.

I guess now I'm attacking groverat, too.

Wow, only Macs have digital video applications?

That's some news. I guess all those people running Avid software are just imagining it. You tore the delicate fabric between reality and fantasy, damn you!

Eh... I don't know whether or not PCs are incapable of this but it's quite a reaching statement.

I know for a fact that I can plug in an external HD and have it pop right up and work in both 2k and XP. What's missing, booting off the external HD? Never tried it.

Eh... that isn't unique to Macs.

Although Macs handle this task quite well, they are not the only portables capable of being used for hours.

I've survived just fine so far. XP has a built-in firewall. What's the problem again?

If you want to start talking about Security Updates being an indication of the security of the OS then OSX can't be considered secure because I've had to download quite a few security updates lately. Isn't there even one already scheduled for 10.2?

Firewire disk mode is cool because you can take any FW equipped mac and use it as an external hd. Sure, you can boot off it, but that's not the only use. It's often a lot faster than just networking two computers together and easier, as well.

As far as digital video editing: no, there are other programs out there, but FCP is in a class all its own. Real time rendering on a w/o any extra hardware needed is Mac only, AFAIK.

    1. Resizing IE is still slower then molasses, was hoping for much more with Jaguar. (Gimmicky)

    2. Certain websites tend to pop up other sites, (hey it?s my business) when more then two pop up it cripples the explorer, spinney ball of death, the works.

    3. Streaming video on multiple sites crashes 80 percent of the time. I can stream six sites before my PC calls it quits.

    4. Page rendering time, SLLLOOOOOWWWEEERRR then my Sparc 20.

    5. Certain sites using Java code for menus doesn?t display correctly or not at all. Try <a href="http://www.interactivebrokers.uk.co"; target="_blank">www.interactivebrokers.uk.co</a> there should be a menu to your left.

    6. Clean the cache and history, pack a lunch cause your going to be sitting for a while.

I have more but I?ll wait until you slam me for the top ones first. Then I 'll reply , you'll reply, I'll be called a Troll. When all I wan't is Apple to rectify this known problem, yes it's known, I've read hundreds of these boards to know that you all complain about the samethings I do. So BLAAAAHHHH

Does Apple make IE? Didn't think so, look how the finder resizing works...i think M$ wants windows version to work better or at least i think we know how much priority apple has with IE...IE 5.2 = IE 6.x?

Easy one, beyond all the bullet points and back and forth:

The Mac makes (made) it possible for me to enjoy my work again - and simply enjoy using a computer.

Esoteric? Yes. A singular expereince? Definitely not. The satchmo quote is great and right on target.

Very cool, yes, but I don't know if PCs are incapable of it.

    "Extra hardware"?

PCs can do real-time rendering, so that makes no sense given the topic. What is "extra hardware"? Extra hardware on what machine?

Avid requires DVI in/out. If a video card that supports DVI in/out is "extra hardware" to you I think you're crazy.
