Still, if anybody knows WHY the OS "limits" 700 MB CDs as having only 670 MB available (and 650 MB CDs offer approx. 600 or 610 MB - I don't remember the exact figure), I'd LOVE to know.

40MB appears to be reserved for Hybrid formatting. You can get around it by using toast (handy when you have a 699MB file which you can't backup in the Finder!!!)

What exactly is Toast and where can I get it? Is it a free program or does it cost money? Again, thanks alot for everyone's help.

And I'll agree...get Toast. Honestly, iTunes is good (if you have an iPod and play Mp3s on your harddrive) but I think it sucks for burning CD's. Toast does a better job with that and it also has many other benefits.
i was backing up my hardrive today and i noticed that an 80 disc only had about 670mb of room, i was wondering what was up. also, i must be spacing or forget how to burn cds, but i thought there was somewhere to pick whether you were burning a data or audio cd? does 10.2.3 automatically decide for you. seemed to work ok when i just dragged the fines onto the disc. i have a superdrive
i think i'm losing my mind. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[Surprised]" />
