My wife's Honda came without them too, which is one reason I made the weak analogy in the first place.
I agree that for a lot of people, 256 isn't going to be enough. But given that you can upgrade to 512 at a decent price easily (click on 512 when BTOing!), I don't see that as a major reason to not recommend the system *at all*. Recommend it, but mention that if they're wanting to get into iMovie, iDVD, etc, then they're also going to want to get the 512. 256 isn't exactly a beast, but it also will do many people just fine for quite a while.
Heck, my great-aunt still has a G4 Cube with 256 in it that is running 10.3 and she's happier than a clam. Loves the thing, won't think of upgrading.
Overnight the Australian Apple site has dropped delivery time for the Mac mini down to 1-2 weeks, down from 2-3 weeks last week, which dropped a week the previous week - umm does that make any sense
This is probably indicative of the suppliers catching up with the initial hot demand rather than anything else.
P.S. I noticed the US site also shows 1-2 weeks but I don't know how long that's been in place.
yes, that whole part about shipping with 256MB standard in a single slot. The machine being highly recommended to be brought in to be updated and no word on whether its officlally allowed to upgrade yourself. the fact that an upgrade is neccessary straight out of the box. and don't tell me its not. even apple knows it. here's some advice, go see how much ram any apple demo model has in their own stores. or how about the fact you have to waste 256MB RAM you just paid for in order to upgrade it to something useful. Yes, OS X is usable with 256MB. But barely. I'd call it a very miserable experience. Having just safari and iChat open will quickly use up more than the available memory.
Funny, I own two minis one has 1GB the other is stock 256MB and I use safari and a few other apps. I do not feel like I am missing out.
here is what I run and concurrently, Iterm, safari with about 4 tabs,VPN client, remote desktop, monitor, and the the odd X app.

You are wrong, floor matts are an accessory. You have to pay extra for them.

Not to mention slush mats, which are mandatory for New England winters, unless you like rotting carpet.
Heck, mud flaps were an $11 accessory on my PT Cruiser.
Are you the same anand from the hardware review site?

Haha no. They did have the car's logo though. Plus they're molded mudflaps, not just a flappy rubbery thing.

No shit? On a Honda? Gosh, I've bought one new car (Pontiac Vibe) and it just had floor mats in it, so I went and figured all cars had 'em.
Well don't I look like an asshole now!
