Delays on new Powermacs?

I ordered my dual 1.25 on the 3rd and it was supposed to ship no later than the 10th. Well i get an email today that says it won't ship till the 20th now! I went and checked back with their website and the exact computer I bought says "1-3 day shipping". What gives?? Has anybody else gotten this, or their new computers?

and the waiting continues....

I dunno but I only had to wait a couple of days when I ordered mine years ago now. I couldnt even handle that wait. Well good luck and I hope you enjoy your machine.

I ordered my Configured To Order (CTO) dual 1.25 GHz on 2/1/03 and the estimated ship on or before date was today (2/12/03). Needless to say it didnt ship and it doesnt list being delayed. I hope it ships tomorrow I cannot wait any longer!!!! lol

Interesting news, when I bought my dual 1 Gig from the Apple Store online in August they gave me the same run around, originally shipping in 5 days and turned into 3 weeks, but the website still said shipping in 5 days for new orders.

I ended up cancelling my order and buying a machine from a local reseller, who had already had them in for a couple of days. I can't really say that I have ever had a smooth or on-time experience with the Apple Store online, for the higher margins Apple gets from online sales I thought they would be a little more responsive. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

Yup the day after my computer was supposed to ship by it got delayed for another week. I called Apple and got the answer "Ah the web stuff is always wrong" to which I replied "Well now the web says 1-2 days on all three retail, developer, and educational stores" to which he replied "You'll get yours before they get thiers" and then I said "Well then you will have a bunch of pissed off web customers". Im going to call again today and see if I get a different answer or at least can get my shipping upgraded. To wait 3 weeks when quoted a time of 5-7 days is unacceptable. If the person I talk to cannot give me any answers I will just ask for their supervisor, that always works with Apple Ive learned. I was smart enough to save to pdf all the documentation when I ordered so I have all the info I need for the supervisor I talk to.

Ok an update for anyone who cares... According to two reps. the dual 1.25s have not shipped to anyone yet (even though they list a 1-2 day wait time). There is a huge backorder that they hope to START shipping next week. Who in the hell knows where I am in that list. Frankly, I will never order from the online apple store ever again, I think I will deal with smalldog and the like next time. Anyone have a similar experiance? What are my options at this point? According to the vibe Im getting from the reps its "shut up sit down and it will ship when it ships". Which, to myself as a customer seems unreasonable and unacceptable. Just got off the phone with a Rep. named Judy (Rep #3) and she said they will know more tomorrow, she was polite but all of them are useless to me because they cannot do anything about it.

Are you serious? I read about that many users got their dual 1.25 PowerMac already, mostly are stock machine and some BTO. Are you talking about tose who ordered from AppleStore got the delay? Looks like I should drive 4hrs to Seattle and buy the stock machine in store. I want it BTO.

Yeah so true, an apple supervisor upgraded my shipping free but still no clue when it will even be built. Smalldog does not add in taxes either do they? Apple seriously has pissed off me and my family with this... and to think we have 7 macs in the house (not counting the IIGS, LC3, or SE30).

I have a similar problem here in the UK.... ordered a BTO 1.25 last week and its still 'under construction...'

Yesterday I called them and they were saying that they have a shortage of components and that there is a delay on these machines.... heck if its not going to be built tomorrow - I'm canceling my order and going down to a local dealer to get the stock machine - Apple really need to sort their act out!

Still waiting for my BTO 1.25 with superdrive. I ordered it over two weeks ago and I really hope i don't get another email saying "Sorry, but your computer will not ship until 2/??/0?". I should know by the 20th, two long days away.

    Qué un turbación!

I'm about to lose the waiting game, and go crazy.

Same configuration as mine. Unfortunately they are having supply problems with one of the components. I talked to 3 supervisors today and they upgraded my shipping to next day air for free. I think the A05 may be what we are waiting on either that or the processor (we all know how good MOT is at things). I doubt the Airport Extream cards are what is holding it up because that one card is used in 3 product lines and would mean a lot of angry customers! You'll get the email its being delayed again on 2/21/03 and they should be able to tell you when you will get your computer by Friday. They are shooting for production to start again ASAP (next week probibly) and if you ordered around 2/1/03 (when the backorder began) it should be assembeled soon after they get the parts. They currently have 3+ weeks of backorder on them and a lot of people are mad. If you can get ahold of the supervisor Penny she was helpful in telling me what was going on and upgrading my shipping.

Errr...I'm gonna call bullshit on the reps for this one. My local CompUSA has had them in stock for over a week. Same with the strip down GHz model.

One very important difference, the outrageously delayed models described in this thread have the superdrive! The stock dual 1.25 and single 1 do not contain the superdrive. All three of the delayed ones here were BTO with the superdrive, not to mention stores get more stock priority then individuals

No man, I was ordering the combo drive BTO with a GeForce4 MX instead of the Radeon 9000 - I'm so sorry I did though.... why does Apple always have to bungle these things?......

I just ordered a Dual 1.25Ghz from my local Apple dealer here in Australia. They were saying that there is a shortage on the Superdrives. This is what is causing all the orders with Superdrives to be slow.

I probably won't see my PowerMac for a good two weeks - but who's waiting?

    ME!!!

    Ben

I feel for you but it will probibly be longer then two weeks. For instance I ordered on 2/1 it has now been delayed until 2/25 from an inital quote of 2/13. They have 3 weeks of backorder on em so I have a feeling it might be closer to 3-4 weeks or so Ben, sorry to be the bearer of bad news Im going to call Apple today and see if there is any new news.
