I dont believe so, AFAIK (as far as I know) the slot load drive in the powerbooks is a different drive because it only writes ar 1X while the desktop A05 writes at 4X. Then again I may be completely wrong, but I haven't seen this delay reported on the Apple Discussion pages.
I feel for you but it will probibly be longer then two weeks. For instance I ordered on 2/1 it has now been delayed until 2/25 from an inital quote of 2/13. They have 3 weeks of backorder on em so I have a feeling it might be closer to 3-4 weeks or so Ben, sorry to be the bearer of bad news Im going to call Apple today and see if there is any new news.

Hey I got some juicy info that may be just a coincidence or... the new 17" iMacs, some have been shipping with a Sony Superdrive. The big deal is that it is their DVD+R(W),DVD-R(W),CD-R(W),DVD,CD drive. Its been tested for burning DVD+R(w)s and apparently the drive is capable of it however, the software is not allowing it to work. So Apple may have switched superdrive suppliers on us all and thus caused a lapse in superdrive supply... Maybe just maybe thats the case... damn I wish I had more concrete evidence then just cooincidence.
Ok, I just got email notification that mine has shipped tonight! If you ordered around 2/1/03 yours shipped probibly as well! Looks like that pesky component came in!!!!!!! woooooohooooo Powermac goodness!

It's still listed as 4-6 weeks so I wouldnt expect a lot. My dualt 1.25 BTO actually went out lat night at 8 pm and left CA at 3 in the am by Air. I wonder if it will get into the hold facility here in Iowa on Saturday (It is 2 day afterall) or if it will make it here today. Technically speaking today is the second day . If it doesnt make it here today it wasnt authorized for saturday delivery I dont think so I may have to drive 30 miles to go get my baby. I will take and post pictures of the whole process for you all, as well as an ASP report if the Sony superdrive is in it.

WooHoo, now only if I could actually be home when they tried to deliver mine tomorrow, damn classes! Oh yeah can't be around Tuesday or Wednesday either so yeah looks like it will be driving to Cedar Rapids to go get it eventually... which its there now but they are not open on Sunday
I ordered my Dual 1.25 on 2/17 and it was shipped out on Friday the 21st. It is now waiting for me in downtown Atlanta. I sure hope it gets delivered tomorrow!
