So what's the status on updated iBooks? I recall hearing something about PowerPCs still in the "pipe" ready to be released during the WWDC keynote. So when do you think iBooks are dropping down this pipe Jobs speaks of?

perhaps this rumor will play out...

"Quanta, already the biggest contract maker for Apple?s PowerBooks, will start to ship 14.1-inch widescreen iBooks as early as the fourth quarter of 2005, the sources said."

I'll bet some stuff gets bumped this week. I hope so.

I'm praying for something before the end of this month, as I'll be buying a new laptop then. I'd like to have the latest and the greatest, obviously.

Hi. My iBook was supposed to arrive at my University on 6/2. When I called today, they told me that Apple hasn't even shipped it yet.

I'm hoping that this means an update is imminent.

Check out Apple's official NECC Conference Page.

Both the iPod and iBook are listed on the side, and both are very due for an update. Furthermore, the Edu $100 rebate expires 3 days before that conference.

    Very interesting.

Still no word on when my order will arrive. The U's computer store tells me that they rarely have to wait for an order like this. 11 days after the scheduled arrive-by date...

I thought I read that updates tend to happen on Tuesdays. I'm hoping we hear something tomorrow! I want my new iBook!

If there was to be an update how long would it take for the iBook to reach your house. I'd imagine that quite a lot of ppl will be ordering on relese day. Anyone have a guestimate?

Powerbooks and iBooks usually ship the day they are announced... since the cpu's and designs are available there isn't a supply issue.

I am also going to hook one up. I have been waiting to buy one for quite some time as I will be making the switch from MSFT. So the sooner the better. I would have purchased one by now but I really want the higher graphics card.

I'm in the same boat... part of me wants a powerbook... but the other part is saying "as soon as I buy a powerbook the ibooks will be updated and they will be as fast as my powerbook".

    I finally got my iBook.

The reason why it took so long was that Apple was loading Tiger directly onto the HD. In the previous configuration, which I had originally purchased, Tiger came on a seperate disk and Panther was pre-installed.

I'm glad I didn't wait now; any improvments will probably be pretty marginal.

Good luck to the rest of you!

i'm gonna start to switch my efforts to the Mac Mini ~ gonna take over my dad's iBook g4 and give 'im the Mac Mini 1.25ghz or waaaaiiit.... time to shift my bitching to UPDATED MAC MINIS

heh actually since it will be for my dad, the 1.25ghz with tiger, ilife 05 and 256mb ram, airport will be enough. he can tote it between his clinic and the house... wireless keyboard and mouse carried along, no worries. we got an old 15" CRT mitsubishi that refuses to die 8)

and there's a hyundai/m-life 15" widescreen lcd monitor we can get

    switching gears here....

i'm bailing the fucking iBook whinging thread. feel free to boooo me too.

i'd rather give up now than be crushed next week when no new iBooks are announced

this is a good example of the australian term 'piking' or 'to pike'

i hoped they improve the exterior design. to me, i think the G3 ibooks looked a lot better, and then stepped backward now. hopefully something better is coming.
