Unfortunately, I cannot wait any longer as I leave for a long research cruise in a couple of weeks. Additionally, with the refurbs, I just ordered a 1.2GHz 12" for $849, plus third party goodies: 1GB RAM for $135, plus an 80GB faster harddrive for $110+$75 install. So, for just over $1k, I got a fully loaded system.
I would have loved to wait for an update, but I have needs now. Alas.

nah mate, it's all cool. good deal, great stuff. i'm off to start bitching about the Mac mini for this week, since at this stage if nothing is released at the education conference i will take over my dad's iBook g4 and buy him a Mac mini to tote around between home and his clinic
Tiger is surprisingly stable with my ATI mobility 9200 overclocked by 20% from <200mhz stock frequency. VRAM overclocking, it doesn't like it as much, timings get a bit whack, i think. also with screen spanning hack i've got dualie monitor setup, and i bought a 512mb ram piece for $60 (Apacer brand, it seemse to work !!) bringing everything to 640mb, sweet.
i've got 1.5 years of Applecare left on the iBook g4, it got a fresh LCD start of this year, and yeah, with something like the 7200rpm 60gb upgrade for $200, it will be singing....
yeah, i can only stall for a few more weeks before getting my own computer, i've been 'guest lecturing' Flash at a local college and they'd probably like me to take over the subject in a month's time or so
