Just got back from Italy. Our overnight layover in London Gathwick was fortunately yesterday, otherwise we may still be in London.
If you are traveling in-country, within the USA, there aren't that many changes really. Everything that was brought on before can be brought on now. Biggest change is that one needs to get there about an hour+ early, and if you're unlucky enough, be luggage/body searched. Before, being dropped off at the airport 20 minutes prior to take off was fine. Any small knife-like utility is now taken away.
If you are subject to random search, say goodbye to any sharp objects (apparently pencils and pens aren't considered sharp). Saw a guy lose his triangle ruler yesterday. A triangle ruler!
Oh, is it me or are TSA agents better armed than your neighborhood police? Side arm, 2 extra mags of ammo, cuffs, the works.

heh... at least that's a bit less full-on than national guard with m-16s for about several months post 9/11
