nice mockups. now we're bloody getting into the swing of things  .....my guess with Core(TM) QuadExtreme is maybe the secret is that intel showed iSteve a 65nm Yonah with four cores on 1 cpu die (not two cpus)....!!
edit: i like the color, if it is a bit blacker... so sort of burnt-brushed-deep-carbon-fibre-aluminium-super-tech-alloy. this along with a Core QuadExtreme heart and x800 mobility 256mb ddr3 vram gpu would be *the* PowerBook of 2006 that would blow everyone's mind. edit: nvidia7800GO with 256mb ddr3 vram wouldn't be too shabby either
I would like to see the white stay so I can have matching iBook, iMac, and iPods, but it might be time for white to go. As far as colors go, I like the "graphite" that was used on the iBook SE "466", but I do not want to see two-tone colors so that leaves gradients and solid colors. Whatever colors are used they can't be metallic or fluorescent/candy looking.
The logo on the panel will stay white and as you move towards the edge the color gets darker. The iBooks will most likely be widescreen so the side edges will be slightly darker that the top and bottom edges. The area where the keyboard is will be the same color but washed out (matte) like the current iBooks. The bottom of the case and the area around the screen will be charcoal and about the shade of the iTunes unified toolbar or half the darkness of the color used for the mockup of the new PowerBook.
If solid colors are used then hopefully Apple will use ones that can change color/shade depending on what angle you look at it like some cars have.
Here's hoping Apple continues to be creative in their design. The Aluminum PowerBooks are already so striking (and functional) that it's got to hard for Apple to top themselves. I suspect we'll continue to see Aluminum in some shape/form since it's almost as much an Apple signature as 'white'.
Though with the release of the Nano and iPod in BLACK, it may turn out that BLACK is the new WHITE.
carbon-titanium alloy. the lightness of carbonfibre with the strength (and reminiscent of the TiBook) of titanium. "rip through" is of course a double entendre(?) that refers to the speed of the CaT PowerBook and also that moment in BackToTheFuture when they consider trying to block the 50's car with the DeLorean ... would be a nicer mockup but those colors and black-metal-product-on-black-background is hella hard to work with \
Yes, and the colors Apple could use to kick off the Intel powered iBooks are the original iPod mini colors. I think using the iPod mini colors would be a great way of getting rid of white without "going back to colors", and offering silver would allow a person who does not need/want a PowerBook to have a professional looking laptop.
I was browsing in the "Temporary Insanity" (bikertwin had great ideas) forum (man.. some peeps have a wild imagination!) and people want to see stuff like PDA's and Tablets... may be someone could make a Mock-up of one. I gave it a thought and maybe it could be something like this:
aluminum or some other classy & stylish alloy/metal, or some white plastic glossy stuff like the iMac or iBook.
maybe a 10" 1024 x 768 screen (not like an iBook that is horizontal, but vertical (or both.. it could have something like a gyroscope).
onscreen keyboard.
that would mean it would have a touch sensitive screen, thus it would have a stylus pen, somethin alike.
thin... not to thick (so an optical drive could be eliminated).
a few ports (usb, fw, cardreader, etc).
maybe a IR port.
and perhaps a cover like a palmtop thingy ( a la flip style or something alike.
if I have some spare time left, I'll try to give it a shot.

Hot "Ice Cold" Bling. Well, anyway, here is my mock up of the new G7, notice the Front FireWire port, evidence that it will still be there:

If I have some spare time today, i'll try to make a "burnt-brushed-deep-carbon-fibre-aluminium-super-tech-alloy"
And a happy new year peeps!

I like the color for the PowerBooks, but not the iBooks. It borders the screen nicely and is professional looking while still being stylish.
what color do you think the iBook should have?
