How do you all make such major modifications to the sites? I can see how you can modify some stuff, but I can't -- for the life of me -- figure out how some of you did it? Comments? Care to share?
Personally, I used the Movie page (or photo) and deleted most everything and then added elements. The inspector is the key... you can play around with lots of things and make links there. Add your own artwork to make it fun. I might try adding a background soundtrack to mine soon. More photos first, though.
here's Mine, http://www.ruhlav.com It's my little buisness that I do for our family owned Insurance company. I use a web forward account from networksolutions.com which costs $10 a year!
I think iWeb is fantastic. As a design-for-print man who knows absolubtly nothing at all about HTML, and creating websites, it was incredibly easy to use, and I thought it was easy to customise the templates. There will obviously always be similarities between sites created in iWeb, but hey, it came free with my MBP, so who cares!!
I will agree it is not without it's problems, but as a Graphic Designer and I am not surprised by this at all. Graphic design software packages (particularly Quark), have had tonnes of room for improvement for years.... and they cost a fortune!!! There must be people working within other areas of media out there (video, music etc) that have loads of complaints about their thousands of pounds worth of "Pro" software, and then there is iWeb, which is obviously not meant for "Pro" use, and you're all bitchin'.
I stand by iWeb, and as much as I'm lookin forward to v.2, I think it's great... thanks Apple!
Here's my website, i have put a lot of crazy stuff in there but i like it. Please post a comment on one of my blog's or movie reviews, here it is then....
Sorry to let you down, but imho, it is a peice of crap at the moment, you cant sway from the templates and there really arent enough templates, having used all sorts of publishing tools from AOL Homepage (1994) to editing with notepad, to using Frontpage 97, and tinkered with 2k and 2k3, having used Geocitys (pre and post yahoo ownership), having played with the "hard" tools from adobe and Macro, I can say that iWeb is a no starter, the integratiobn with ilife is great, but if I can move things the way I want them faster in code than wysiwyg, then I say the wysiwig needs a lot of help and there is no code review/edit tool in here either, and that is a big problem.
A good start, needs more work, wait for ver.2
also: If you post music it links to the iTms, that is cool, but, I would like a cut of the action, like amazon referals, hell, even itunes credit would be cool. something like "move 10 songs through your site get one free" or something.
Another attempt at an iWeb site, this one for our family business, a brick and mortar store which is 99% walk in customers. Easy to upgrade pics of furniture that sells, but not as professional looking as many of our competitors. However, alot cheaper!!! At some point, I am probably going to learn how to use Freeway to really expand our e-commerce and improve the professional quality. Any and all comments are appreciated.
I started out hand coding our web site and then moved to Dreamweaver for the big stuff. Now someone else does that part. Here's my little homepage done in iWeb. I think it is fine for what I am wanting...something quick and easy.

Here is the site I created for my wife's greeting card business. It really turned out pretty well, especially for a program not designed for html put together by a non-techy. If you see anything you want to do on yours and don't know how to do, email me and I wll either help or send you to the people who helped me. The Apple iWeb community has some great folks in it.

the templates are just a starting point.

Like it?
I bought iWeb this weekend and will install it this evening. Hopefully I'll have a site to publish soon.
If you've published a site with iWeb, let's see it. I'd love to get ideas from others and see what this app is actually capable of.
I'm most interested in migrating content from a Homepage over to an iWeb site and find out how well it works and how it looks.

What I would like to know is how to make it so all the junk after the .com does not show up. Anyone care to share?

Had a peek at your page... nice photos of the trees. Can I ask what camera you are using?
Reminds me, I haven't updated my web site in a long time...
