would be nice if they could get one like that, though i dont like the positioning of the isight, cos if you had the tablet in portrait mode it would probably be obscured by your arm, the top right corner (when in landscape) might be a better place to have it, as then it would go to the top left corner (portrait)
Ok, kids, first things first. Apple will never, and I mean NEVER make a tablet notebook. There is an extremely small market for such a product in the Mac market. Think about it, tablet users are in the minority compared to users who use normal portables. Apple would be building a computer for a minority in a minority. It will never happen... Sorry to rain on all three of your parades, but a tablet is not in Apple's future. If you want one that bad, as much as I hate to say it, learn to love Windows.
Nice iMac, oops I mean iTab. Please, if you're going to make pics of a supposed table pc, then don't grab a shot of an iMac, do the standard Apple iChat AV and reflection on black. It might have looked better if there was no iSight, get rid of iChat AV and add a 'gestures keyboard' so it would make sense to why there is typing in Spotlight.

Replace the line in italics above with the following:
Think about it, mouse users are in the minority compared to users who use normal keyboard interfaces.
Now rethink your entire silly paragraph...
Apple will do a tablet (several actually), and they will do it right, which will (in turn) drive the market towards stylus interfaces...
Naysayers like you would have us still using punch cards...
Nice. Would it also have something in keyboard entry mode? Or just tablet mode only. Something keyboard + tablet pen/touch mode would rock. Around the 10" form factor.
Dear opnsource, you do not understand the meaning of mockup ... i saw you commenting everyone's work badly, can you contribute more then comment about other's dream/mockup/work ...

I remember a looooong time ago when portable MP3 players were just like you describe. It was a market dwindling on death, but something happened. Ohh.. yeah.. Apple.
OK, That mock up looks, and smells like ass. It's a plain screen. Needs keyboard, and to be flip-able so it can replace the Mac Book.

I agree. Apple can create a market by making the tablet better and different. Yes it's greatest application is in niche markets, but why not go after it. I'm in the health care field and the tablet pc has awesome applications. It's also a fairly large market that is really just starting to tap into information technology.
I have a Motion computing slate tablet and I'm ordering 2 more (ruggedized). The lack of a keyboard in a slate is both a plus and a minus. Its certainly less useful without a keyboard if you want to use it in notebook mode. But its also lighter and thinner than the Toshiba flip.
I'd like to see a Apple tablet with a virtual keyboard.
I was trying to decide if it's tied to this prediction of a touch-screen iPod. Multipoint touch input like they're giving an example of for the knob would be pretty impressive, if they're providing the hardware to do it. I'd rather see it on an iTablet than an iPod though.

Yes it has. It's been in the title of an ongoing thread that seems to remain at the top of the forum. I don't know how you missed it. ???
We've discussed this to death. We usually compromise on a wireless bluetooth keyboard and mouse for when you're sitting at a desk.
Tablets are inevitable in the long run - in, say, 20 years, all computers will either be tablets or servers. It's the short term which is difficult to predict.
When the first Macs came out, people thought a mouse was just a rodent in the house. How many mainstream computers today don't come with a mouse?
MP3s were dying, unnecessary... then came the first iPod. What is the marekt for MP3 players at the moment?
Apple has a way of taking entirely new (and considered foreign) ideas and making them mainstream and doesn't care if there is no market for it currently, so if they put their heads to it, they will come up with an incredible tablet.
Easily swallowed. More powerful than two extra strength Dells... sorry, got sidetracked.
I think Apple's tablet will have some kind of optional keyboard, but also will not be released until voice recognition has improved a bit to eliminate the need for the keyboard. It will also have a small form factor. I had a 12" PB and it was too big to use on crowded trains and was heavy in my briefcase. 10" tablet with video out and for presentations, the entire screen can be used as a mini-monitor with a separate control key area.
Then again, Steve and Co. will probably prove all of us wrong.
I think Apple will eventually release a tablet Mac. I think it will look very much like this mockup and I think it will be able to use bluetooth mice and keyboards if necessary.
That's a silly and rushed mockup (I can't do better but can still comment). That doesn't look like a computer, more like a future monitor without a stand. You need more detail in the picture, as well as other angles. What does it look like in standard mode? What does it look lie closed? etc. It's not enough to be a feesable design.

What's wrong with you? He "needs more angles"??? If you can't do better then don't post anything. You sound like a complete ass.

I'm with buckeye. Yes the mockup could use some other features (keyboard, mouse etc.), but look at the newest Intel Mac add. They show the iMac with no keyboard or mouse, so the artist is probably sticking with what he has seen Apple do as far as adds are concerned. Ass.
How was I being an ass? A tablet pc is more than just a screen last time I checked. I don't even see a line going down to the side to show where it turns around. Or a hinge. That's just taking the apple symbol off an imac as well as losing the chin, then you take the ichat part off the macbook pro ad and wala you're done. Actually come to think of it I probably could do THAT in photoshop. I'm saying that's not a real design, it's a monitor without a stand which is NOT what any tablet pc or tablet pc ad would look like.

This design isn't a enough. Call me an ass if you want but do you think that ANY computer would look like that? A monitor yes but a computer, no.
