It was my understanding that only the US site had the slogans. I dono tho, I haven't checked other Apple sites.

If other sites had the slogans, I doubt that they would go up before Apple's main page is updated...

Also, I checked some other threads where people posted about this and some of them were as early as 2AM EST so that would push up their advance knowledge to a little more then an hour.

Otherwise, it is a bit odd that they knew the slogan ahead of time.

It would impress me more if they posted all the slogans for the next two days....but maybe they aren't known in advance. Could be that Steve thinks them up each night and then tells the web designers what to post.

If this WAS leaked, then it wouldn't be difficult to figure out who leaked it. I mean, how many people at Apple would know the slogan ahead of time? Not many, and among those, even fewer that would leak it. Executives aren't going to leak it, it's going to be some website maintenance grunt, and Steve would squash them like a sick bug.

Unfortunately I don't think the other websites have any word about this announcement (I checked Apple Germany and I saw the powerbook in the middle).

hmm... I think the point is here is they got it (the tag line) right before it was released. The fact that it's a different font than Apple's indicate that they got the tagline from someone.

That means that they didn't ferret this from Apple's servers-- someone (and not Ms. Cleo) gave it to them.

Now, as to whether the rest of the their site (specs, iWalk, etc.) are correct, that remains to be seen. Well, except the iWalk, which is fake.

Well, if you look at Thinksecret, they commonly get info just hours before it's announced by the low-end-of-foodchain guys who just need to know right before it's made public so they aren't unprepared/shocked when people start asking/calling in about it. If I had to guess, I would guess someone was wandering the halls and overheard a webmaster tell someone else what the new slogan will be, got excited and started emailing every rumor site out there; spymac being in germany would be the only one awake to post it in time of course. Of course, if they post tomorrow's up early too, then that theory obviously doesn't work anymore.

edit: oh well, everyone already knows Apple's slogan for tomorrow so we can't verify this any further come tomorrow.

The iMac specs seems realistic BUT as JLL pointed out the low end iMac:

    [quote] iMac M8545LL/A

750 MHz PPC G3 256 MB PC 100 SDRAM 20 GB HD 14Ó CRT ATI Rage 128 (16MB) 24x CDROM Ethernet 56K Modem Wireless Ready (Airport) Keyboard Mouse Mac OS X Options: Graphite, Indigo and Classic

    CompUSA Price $799

Has the same product number (M8545LL/A) as MacOSX. Check the Apple store

Those chimps at SpyMac have absolutely NO credibility. They don't even check what is being put forward to them.

There is no major hardware that Apple makes that ends with LL/A. The only thing I can think of is the Apple Mouse II.

Maybe that's what they're gonna bring out....a new ADB mouse!!.....Quick, someone post it to spymac and we can really get those rumormills humming....I bet Spymac will load it up on their site too!!

Anything other that MxxxxX/A, especially at this time, has got to be fake!!

    My $0.02

No it is not the same. In an older issue of MacAddict a reader asked the same question. MacAddict's response is that is it based off of Apple Garamond, but it is not one and the same.

    Thanks

14inch CRT??? Does ANYONE even MAKE those anymore??? WTF, are we going back to the mid-90s with 14inch screens?

14inch LCD doesnt make sense either. 15.1 wide would be the least I could go for... unless its a 14.1 wide screen of somekind.

    Bah.

Also, as pointed out in the MacNN forums, different color iMacs have their own model numbers; they don't come in "options". They only show a single model number for three colors. Plus what the heck is "Classic", are they talking about beige or bondi blue or something?

There's also that copy of OS X which has the same number they assign to the low end iMac. I just looked up the Manufacturer's part numbers for the latest batch of Macs and they all end in LL/A.

I dunno if this part means anything so I'm just treating it as an observation. Besides the iMac, all of Apple's current batch of Macs have numbers between 83xx and 86xx with the Powermac, iBook, and Powerbook having sequential model numbers. The iMac seemed to get random ones. SpyMac's new Powermac numbers jump in 30 and 10 increments but shoot up into the 9xxx territory while the iMacs go sequentially but plunge to 3xxx not including the OS X box. If you go back to last year's MWSF model numbers though, they're completely random as are Team Flower Powers'. They do stay in the 76xx to 84xx range though. Conclusion? I think those model numbers look a bit weirder on top of what has already been pointed out in this thread, but I can't say anything conclusive.

The specs look pretty reasonable to me - except for the 14" LCD.

Most people know what is technically feasable at this time, and 1.5Ghz G5s aren't.

Expect speed bumped G4s and iBooks, LCD iMacs and maybe a couple of digital lifestyle products.

But as always we'll really want them but not be able to afford them.

    I predict:

    1) A Digital camera (Firewire)with 1GB hard drive which docks on top of the iMac to form a web cam.

    2. iPad, a 12" LCD tablet which uses handwriting recognition and Gigawire to sync to a desktop. This would be goood for schools, I reckon.

I think all of their predictions are fake. Just because they got one thing right doesn't mean anything.

They are not accurate those predictions. Why leave the gForce2 in those powermacs, when there is gForce3. The gForce have lasted a year, that's long enough.

I agree! BUT - we don't know for sure, and at least they purport to have the goods days before MWSF. Where's AppleInsider? Where's MOSR? Giving us the scoop on Tuesday belies their names.

EmAn - why is AppleInsider so silent? The iMac piece is old, and it reminds me of Kormac's predictions (are you listening Matsu?). They are so vague on specifics, it will be hard to say they were wrong.

Why has Apple left the Rage 128 in some of their computers so long?

Good points. You're right about MOSR and AI.
