I suppose people don't notice the obvious MySpace need for such a clean Application?
Is Apple Teams/Wiki Server done with PHP, WebObjects or Ruby on Rails?
Don't forget Python, which iCal Server is written in.
When it comes to OS X Server, Apple definitely has a "best tool for the job" attitude. Sometimes they use existing open source apps, sometimes they create their own, sometimes they use C, sometimes they use Python...

When I think of useful applications used daily, at NeXT, PencilMeIn from Sarrus Inc comes to mind. Sun bought and buried that application.
