Makes you wonder what the one more thing will be after seeing the iPod and iTunes hype is first.

So far, it's about what one would expect, despite the hype.

Ok, "all video at 640x480. not fab, but good.

But, so far, he has said "video". Will he say the word "movie"?

No, encoding a movie at 4:3 resolution is just ick. This is seriously disappointing.

YES! He said the magic word.

Sigh. the same rez, and no burning to disk—the same as the vids.

At least, this time he is calling it "near DVD quality", instead of saying that it is better, as he first did with the AAC encoded music and CD's.

Not sure how this will work out with Tv's.

I hadn't gotten to the movies as yet. I was referring to just the video, which is 4:3.

My next post shows my feeling about that.

Well, at least we finally get at a peek at a product that hasn't been released. I hope that Jobs doesn't get into trouble with himself for leaking it.

If he hasn't mentioned HD, as so far he hadn't, as of the last update, and it doesn't seem likely, as the event seems to be closing down, then it won't be available in HD.

I'm not clear as what this is EXACTLY. If it's a mega Express, then it can't use Firewire for anything.

Ars has a better, and more complete coverage than most other sites have at this point in time.

If it can't use FireWire then how might it use USB?

    "near-DVD quality"?!?!

What happened to "the year of HD"? Was that last year and now we're reverting back to standard def for everything?

I'm disappointed. Why exactly would I pay 10 bucks for a lesser quality product that is stuck on my computer?

The "iTV" looks promising, but not unless they can figure out how to give us HD content.
