The only real use right now for Firewire would be for a HD. No more Firewire iPods. Since there's no computer in this to control it (I'm assuming, from the price), then what purpose would Firewire serve?

USB is for an iPod. Ethernet is for a wired network.

I'm disappointed. Why exactly would I pay 10 bucks for a lesser quality product that is stuck on my computer?

The "iTV" looks promising, but not unless they can figure out how to give us HD content.

I don't see how anyone could have realistically expected HD downloadable content now.

    It's like the first video's at 320x240.

HD will come, but not until more people have a real high speed connection.

remember 1/2 hour at 640x480 for a movie, at 5-6Mbs.

MY connection is 6Mbs, but how many others are that lucky? At the more common 1.5, it will take too long even for this.

My friend is still on dial up. it takes her half an hour to download a song! she tried downloading a show that was half an hour long, it took her all night to dl it.

It would probably take 3 days on her dial up connection to download a movie, haha.

As far as the iPod is concerned:

I can't help but feel underwhelmed. Meh.

I really wanted atleast 100Gb of storage. I guess, I'll continue holding off....

No way there will be 100 gb yet. I expected 80, but I thought it would at least jump up to 40 gb. But I also expected it to be a widescreen iPod

I don't know exactly what would be required to support an external hard drive on iTV but it seems like the issue is irrelevant for at least its first revision. Although ?

Completely forgot that, probably because I was just doing something with my wife's iPod mini that still uses FW.

If iTV can play iPod content (I've missed*evidence of that if there's been any) that's "close enough" to external drive support for the purpose of offline playback.

Doesn't ethernet imply a wired network?

Of course (though there is wireless Ethernet, as there is for USB).

It was just for the differentiation, as a reminder that it can be hooked directly to a wired network, for those who are new, and might not know.
