The touch-sensitive areas on the outer portion of a new iPod may be for "tuning" purposes (maybe TV or satellite radio signals)...

Read the entire thread, past what you quoted, future shoulder-to-shoulder Mac Buddy.

(I was laughing at the utter absurdity of Zune denting anything that Apple makes - particularly the subject of The Patent.)

A joke you [ or I ] have to explain isn't one. My bad.

I also edited the offending post to clarify my sentiments.

You know what's going to be funny is that when the fabled iPod Video comes out everyone on the forum will be like "man, that's so old school! We came up with that idea like 2 years ago!" Heck, people have already moved from the iPod to the Apple UMPC (God, please make it happen!) I'd love the iPod Video with touchscreen technology and all, but it's not exactly innovative. Comeon Apple! Surprise us with something new and innovative instead of these variation on a theme iPods!

Although it's maybe not so good for horizontal viewing, and it would probably piss off lefties...

That would be a fantastic idea.. I just tried it out on my ipod by flipping it over and imagining the back was wholly a screen. Just need to have the click wheel on the back exactly the same, offset to one side, and seeing as this baby should have motion (direction) sensor it should be able to detect which way up it is being held for a lefty or righty... just flip it over and a lefty can use it!! Nothing else need change . That leaves the front for a full screen ipod video. Damn i want to go and make one myself!! No smudges, accidental touches and still an ipod!
