Come on backtomac, I said be honest...

I am being honest. Are you? Do you really have a position were you are able to ignore clients or have a band of minions who deal with such menial tasks for you?

I'm most excited about having integrated iCal to help me get things done rather than having 8 million post-it's in my pocket. Plus of course it would be nice to have my favorite music at my fingertips plus a phone in just one device. I still have the same phone I started with 4 years ago! I need a new one, but am definately waiting for the iPhone.

When you open the package there is a message that says "Don't be an ass" instead of "Don't steal music".

While you can't delete them, you can edit those double posts, in the lower right corner of your posts so at least they don't all say the same thing.

...but, like dear 'ol Dad used to say "if they want blue, sell 'em blue" - Go Apple!

This is more the result of people who let the technology control them rather than remain in control of the technology and use it as a tool.

I have a cell phone, but there are plenty of times when I have it set to silent or left in my car. For instance if I am on a date or something, I will not answer. The same thing with the land line phone on my desk at work, if I am having a meeting with someone, I set the phone to do not disturb.

I believe that there is a way to live with the technology without it controlling you. I also believe that you can get along without it. Many places where I rock climb have no service and I don't miss it one bit.

That was the first time I've ever seen that show and the last. I suppose they think they're cool but it just comes off as ignorant and unprofessional. It was painful to watch.

The cellphone is dead! Long live the iPhone!!

That doesn't make sense. What about the i(nternet)Pod? I think it makes more sense to interpret the "i" as a personal device or utility, not as an internet product. I think it's less aggravating than using "my".

To be an internet phone, first you have to have a good mesh of open access points, which do not exist on nearly the same scale as the phone networks. You are lucky if an access point has a few tens of meters of range, the cellular network has a range of several kilometers from the towers. WiMax might make a VOIP mobile phone useful, but it would take many years before it catches on like that because the towers need to be erected.

I am pretty sure that Microsoft has stated that they will be making a Zune phone, and I expect that they would be incompatible with their Windows Mobile phones.

Double points if phone functionality can borrow battery from multimedia.

I too think it does make more sense to soft-limit the music playback. It is possible to make long-running phones, I don't even shut my phone off and it's been getting 1+ week battery life for a few years now, though the battery is fading now. Even if that means I have to charge twice a week, the extra power consumption of a flash audio player is not a problem for me.

Yes, they will release it 1 year after the iPhone, it will have all the features*** of the iPhone with an inferior UI and it will be twice as heavy, but still not compatible with Vista. It will also allow you to 'squirt' your 'stuff' on all of your friends.

***We decided not to implement Voice in the initial version of the ZunePhone because we wanted to focus on the music and community features, Voice will be available in about a year via a downloadable software update. In the meantime, have fun 'squirting' your pictures around.

But WiMax smells like a hit and I believe it will go (almost perhaps) mainstream in 2007, and will likely be definitly mainstream in 2008 and beyond.

Testing isn't the same as catching on. I think it's been in public testing for a year now in some places. I'll give it credence when coverage of much of a state is completed. I don't think Apple would bother with something like this except as a secondary radio.

I was only responding to what you wrote. You said "WiMax is already catching on" before you noted it was in testing.
