Hmmmm. I guess I missed that. if that's the case, then wow. But it that's how it's going to be, I'd kiss $129 bye-bye. If M$ is charging $400-something for the top version of Vista, Apple would still relatively look sharp at $200. Oh, geez-- I here the whining now...

They wouldn't dare rising the price. If they kept the price the same, and added these to the mix. It would put more power at Mac users finger tips. I would encourage more switching. It would give people the opportunity of never buying Office, thus saving big bucks, which will make people happy. It would be only positive for Apple. People aren't going out in droves to buy iWork, and Apple knows it's going unnoticed for the most part. It's all debatable though.
Plus, it will finally get all those Mac users using 10.2, 10.3 to switch to 10.5, which Apple desperately wants too.
I don't know about that. I would hope the price wouldn't change, but Steve is known to have a philosophy of "let them pay what they'll pay." If the price goes up without crossing some sort of psychological barrier, Apple gets more cash for essentially the same work and they once again raise the value of the brand. This could be especially true if Leopard has as many killer "secret" features as he suggested.

Of course, if Apple doesn't announce that iWork and iLife will be included with Mac OS X, then they get the early bird sales + extra sales from Leopard. They can even charge an extra $10 or $15 if they want. Also, then people will just upgrade iLife/Work in 2008.
Apple could combine iLife and iWork.
Personal opinion though. iWork + iLife will not be part of Leopard.
iLife and iWork are seperate products. I doubt anyone of them has a chance of making an appearence as part of Mac OS X, though I wouldn't be surprised if iLife eventually was swallowed into the OS, mainly because applications like Journler for example, take advantage of the Media Browser. I expect the Media Browser is one of the reasons Apple includes iLife with all new computers.
iLife and iWork are not the same and will not be joined into one. I highly doubt either one of them will be part of Mac OS X.
Most of this probably stems from people who do not wish to pay for iLife and iWork, which is my guess and my opinion, because it's just an extra $100 or so for one of them. If Apple did include them, then yes they would raise the price, but they are seperate and thus the price I expect will stay the same.

I put this out there to cause debate, you have a right to your opinion. I hope I'm right, but you could be right. We'll see, it's nice to talk about it though.

iLife and iWork would still have to be separate releases, otherwise we can kiss those yearly upgrades goodbye.
Which complicates things.
Here's to not a chance.
Not true. 2008 people will want to upgrade to that version and there will be no new OS then. Also, technically Mac OS X could include iLife '06 with tiger and '07 is a seperate upgrade. That would be ugly, but its possible.
Heh, I say I wouldn't be surprised if iLife was swallowed in Mac OS X because it's a large part of Mac OS these days. Then again, that's like saying that Apple will make .Mac free and offer it to all Mac Owners, which is counter to what they did when they turned it into .Mac.
Which is what I meant. It seems excessive to give iLife (and iWork) away with a) every new mac, b) every new OS, and at the same time selling separate copies.

No. I meant that '07 will be NOT included with Leopard (must be purchased seperatly) but '06 will be included. with Leopard. Like I said, messy, not likely, but possible.

i think its very possible (however unlikely) that iWork and iLife will come with Leopard, but will they will have to ship individually too because OS X doesn't get a total upgrade every year like iLife does so no one is gonna want to buy the whole package again. i think they should do it like this:

I think Apple should do it like this.
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, with iLife '07 & iWork '07 for $129 (iLife and iWork are not bundled so much as they are now part of the OS)
1. No other options, put iLife and iWork '07 in Leopard. Make it so easy to choose, that everyone will upgrade. Finally get all Mac users on the same platform.
2. Make the existing .Mac service completely free.
3. Make a .Mac equivalent to Flickr.
4. Make a .Mac equivalent to my space.
5. Grow market share to 10% in two years.
Make a shit load more money than they would have if they had of continued on with the same pricing structure, & make Mac user happy in the process. Would be a win win win win situation.

I believe he meant that programs currently available only on Intel Macs and those with cameras will be included-- Photobooth, Front Row.

Then, perhaps they will bundle leopard and ilife.
my .02 is on Leopard and iLife being in 2 boxes.

arnt the last 2 options just about the same thing?
Not really.
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard $129
iLife '07 $79
