He didn't say they were impressive. It's an assumption. No one expects Jobs to announce a new font or a slightly different design to the Safari logo.

Just curious solipsism, your threat of "or else!" does this mean you're moving to another OS if you don't get your "super top secret" stuff?

Really, where are you going to go? OS 9? XP? VISTA!!???!!!

"Or else" means that I'll be moving to Pennsylvania to herd cattle and raise barns on weekends with my newfound Amish brethren. No more computers. No more internet. No more porn.

The context is the following: for the last Mac OS X release, Apple had provided as time frame, some months before the release, the upcoming Spring. It turned out to be the end of April 2005. In the Leopard case, Apple already said it is going to be ready for Spring 2007. So, this is why everyone would expect Leopard to be ready for launch in three months from now. Or beginning May at most. If the reports are accurate, this is simply not going to happen. Unless Apple takes the Tiger route (see below).

In this context, Spring means June since they have said in the past "Spring" and shipped literally on the last day of Spring. So by historical context Spring means June.

    See above.

Vista and Tiger both had some major bugs to fix even weeks before RTM.

That was the problem (for Tiger). \

I'd like to see Apple dump the name "Parental Controls" in favor of something more professional like "Access Controls". I can see some schools or small organizations using these features. In those kinds of environments, the term "Parental Controls" doesn't seem appropriate.

That's why, in those kinds of environments, there are no Parental*Controls. There is, instead, a far more sophisticated access system.

Parental Controls are purely for home use.

Parental Controls are not purely for parents to use on children.

For example, I can imagine some organizations wanting to prevent users from making purchases through iTunes, but still be able to play CDs. In iTunes you have go to "Parental" preferences to disable the iTunes Store, even though you are not their parents. What "sophisticated access system" can be used to set this?

Even when used at home, it may not just be parents trying to control access. It could be someone who shares his computer with roommates. Clearly, the various access controls in Mac OS X can be used by people other than parents, so these controls need a better name than "Parental".
