ThinkSecret Shows Off More Leopard 9A343 Screenshots
I would say that Apple is nearly done. It looks pretty polished to me. I think the only reason we have not seen a new build is because of the "Top Secret" features. If we are really slated for a March release, I dunno when Steve will show these features off as the first FC (Final Candidate) has to be out in like a week.

That's the kind of things I want to hear.
The X11 icon looks ugly as hell though. No brushed metal in sight though.
That X11 icon is not a "new" one.
Hmm, never seen it before. I hope Apple will let it go.
The shortcut key for arranging items looks .... funny to me.
Funny? I would say a nice touch resurrected from the Mac OS 9 days.
(chuckle)
Wait 'til you see the real UI.
And there is not going to be a March release.
Pretty polished??

Yeah and how exactly do you know this?

thou has much faith. as do i,

Ah, yes, faith, the magic word. We often need it, but in this case it is not going to force Apple to deliver the goods if Apple fails or does not plan to meet people's expectations. Yet, it would be interesting to see if Hobbes is just hoping or rather knowing more than the average mortal.
Is the semi-transparancy in picture 22 to 27 normal?
(I'm not a Mac user, so go easy here )

Yes. That's a sheet; its background opacity is slightly below 100% (similar for menus).
You know all this? NDA?
I've seen enough hints (a few NDA'd, most not) to get the picture, loud and clear. It doesn't take a whole lot of reading between the lines.
"There's some stuff we can't show you yet." 6 years since Aqua (and the way Aqua was a secret 2-year project, and intro'd by being dropped into DR3, unseen by developers). The long-time brewing and finally, release, of Vista's highly Aqua-influenced Aero + Apple's need, as the alternative OS, to be strikingly different. Stunning CoreAnimation demos. Unfinished, placeholder icons in Leopard dev seeds. Dynamic-lighting UI patents from Nov '02. WWDC '06 quiet instructions to devs w/r/t user interface elements. CoreUI. Etc.

Could you refresh my memory please?
CoreUI.
What's that?
Could you refresh my memory please?
Sure.
What's that?
A new private framework that currently points to a bundle named Aqua. Application resources seem to have been redirected to use CoreUI.

Maybe I need to see this action but it does not scream
Why people are so skeptical of Apple refreshing the UI for their flagship software product just because of complete (typically secretive) silence from Apple, right at the point in which Microsoft has finally released a graphically savvy, composited version of Windows with plenty of visual bling... is beyond me.
Do you really think Jobs is going to be happy competing with Vista with a UI that was basically designed 6 years ago?
And is next month (the 6th year anniversary of OS X, incidentally) a good time to reveal a new UI.... or two years later in 10.6? By which time PCs running Vista will far outnumber XP?
But hey, believe what you want to believe.
I guess at this point I am just very anxious more than anything. I would just hope that if Apple is really trying to push Leopard as the Vista killer than they have a media event specifically for Leopard so the press has a dedicated event just to see the beast without any other distractions (iLife, iWork, etc).
Leopard will have its spot in the sun for sure, but iLife is a very important suite for Apple as well. In a way, they're natural companions in making a case for what's distinctive and unique about Macs. Also, if iLife/iWork have some CoreAnimation goodies, it would certainly make sense to show them off at the same event.
