Well, we now know the announcement wasn't really about that. But considering that Apple has been trying hard for a looong time to get the Beatles on the iTMS, I'd say that Apple disagrees with you about the importance of that.

What would EMI have to do with The Beatles? As I understand it, aren?t they signed to Apple Records?
EMI is the Beatles' distributor. They do have some influence.
