What do you think the chances are of a completely new iMac coming out at WWDC? I'm probably going to buy one soon, and I was just wondering if I should get my hopes up or not. I'll probably end up waiting anyways, but I was just wondering what everyone else thought.
I think WWDC is going to be all about Leopard and iPhone so the earliest a new iMac will be shown is at the MacExpo in Paris (September?). The updates I see are:
1 - a redesigned case with a smaller chin. Might even come in black
2 - faster processors, memory, and front-side bus
3 - updated graphics with GMA x3100 replacing GMA 950
3 - support for 4GB RAM in 17" and 20" (2 slots) and 8GB RAM in 24" (4 slots)
4 - maybe even a Blue-Ray and/or HD-DVD BTO option
Would they possibly release a 13.3" MBP along with an updated 15.4"? Since unfortunately, there will probably be no 17" LED model coming out, and these new screens are now being seen on smaller notebooks... It seems as though Apple would like to have more than just the single fancy 15" MBP to offer...
Would they possibly release a 13.3" MBP along with an updated 15.4"?
No, I highly doubt it. I wouldn't even give it a 10% chance. This would badly blur the line between the "pro" machine and the "consumer" model. Apple likes this clear definition between the two, just look at the desktops, and how far apart the Mac Pro is from the iMac.

A year between updates to the iMac, reminds me of the Motorolla G4 days...The iMac will come before August, and I would imagine that it will be announced by the end of July at the latest. Unless they are announcing the immediate availability and or a development kit for the iPhone then it is a wast of time to do more than mention it at WWDC, which after all is a MAC event not a closed end hardware media event that developers cannot develop for. The iMac will be a Santa Rosa platform, which will be about a month old when Steve hits the stave and most Apple releases since the switch have been about a month behind Intel's announcements. I don't think we will see a smaller chin, when it comes it will be a completely new design not a rehashing of the current one. Blue Ray will come 6 months to a year behind the Pro release, so don't look for it for about a year.

Doesn't the iMac already come with 128 standard exp. to 256 graphics and not GMA 950 like the MBs?

I wouldn't even give it that long, unless you're talking about it being a choice for a personal upgrade. Apple won't be putting Blu-Ray or HD-DVD drives standard into their machines until there is a clear winner in that battle. It's going to be too close and unclear for some time, maybe somewhere between 2.5 to 4 years, before that happens. Apple doesn't want to make a decision too early and end up choosing the wrong one, then get blasted for having out-of-date or increasingly irrelevant technology.

The same thing was said about DVD-R & DVD+R, but drive manufacturers developed drives that could support both formats.
I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened again with Blu-Ray and HiDef-DVD.

Apple introduced DVD-RAM in their top of the line Powermac G4 back in 1999.
It didn't make it, but that's not the point.
Better solutions arrived and Apple picked the first it could lay it hands on. (After that there came cheaper products available)
Apple doesn't wait for a clear winner.
The reason why Apple didn't deliver this Blu-ray as an option yet is costs.
Apple would have to standardize it to get enough sales against an acceptable price-point of its products.
Nobody will pay a $500 premium for an iMac because it sports a Blu-ray. So Blu-ray has to come down in price and be fitted in as many Macs as possible from the start.
Also Apple would need them to be slotloading and ultra small to fit in a MacBook Pro, so they can introduce it in the Mac Pro, 24"iMac and MacBook Pro simultaneously and this way make one of both accepted and indeed logic says it will be Blu-ray
The Mac Pro update was just a quad core cpu drop in at the high end no other updates.
I don't consider the cpu upgrade as an "update" either. I am hoping that WWDC will bring the Mac Pro line to all Quad Cores (8 cores): 2.33, 2.66 and 3.00 GHZ plus additional graphic cards. Hopefully, they'll offer the ATI Radeon X2800XT (code name R600XTX) as one of the choices. New updates to the MP line has occurred at other WWDCs, so I hope this one is no exception.

I'm thinking you mean the 2900XT? There is no 2800.
"This is the Radeon X2800XT with CrossFire technology. It’s a mammoth of a video card. And if rumors hold true, it’ll hit the streets this April at NAB in Las Vegas. But you won’t be able to buy this guy off the shelf just then. No, the X2800XT with CrossFire will be incorporated into the updated MacPros we’ve been hearing about. And that’s an exclusive deal, pal."

Oh sorry - I thought we were talking about actual GPUs.

I don't even care if it's ATI or NVidia anymore, I got my money ready for buying one right now but don't want a 1900XT anymore.

It depends on which model we talk about. All iMacs have dedicated graphics except the base 17" model which comes with an Intel GMA 950.

You mean: Apple introduced DVD-R in their top of the line Power Mac G4 back in 2001.
I'd like an "N" version of the Airport Express.
I'd like a RAID box that accepts up to five SATA hard drives using the same sleds as the Mac Pro.

No, he means (and correctly so) DVD-RAM on their top of the line PowerMac G4 in 1999
