In the latest pictures of iPhone, there is a slot at the top similar to the bottom of the Apple Remote. You push the indentation and it opens to allow you to swap the SIM card.

In theory yes, however it will still be locked to Cingular/ATT thus no real global roaming.

should squash those rumors that the iPhone wont have a SIM tray.
Just like changing the battery in an Apple remote.
