You know what the most rocking feature of Safari is? Blocking all those pop-up windows!
I guess other browsers may do this too (I don't really know), but I turned this feature on in Safari immediately after I installed it. It's wonderful.
I've already gotten myself to "think different", regarding bookmarks in Safari. I think it is totally snazzy and so much cleaner.
I'm as impressed by Safari as I am iTunes.
What else would you all like to see? I don't want to see it get all bloated and cumbersome, so think long and hard about what a browser truly needs. Don't think of it in terms of "oh, it has to match so-and-so's...", especially if "so-and-so" packs a bunch of useless, space-wasting crap in theirs.
1. I could enjoy tabbed browsing...but it's not a "deal killer". Would be nice.
2. I actually do dig the auto-fill function. I'm forever registering for this and that online and the time and hassle Explorer's auto-fill feature saves is really appreciated.
3. I'd like, simply in the preferences, the option to switch between the brushed metal (ugh...) appearance OR the more OS X, white look like you see in the Finder or in the earlier version of calculator. While I'm at it, I'd like that feature implemented in ALL the iApps!
I shouldn't have to go bonking around any sort of funky resource files and twiddling with stuff I don't understand just to rid my Mac of ugly brush metal interfaces
Hell, any 1 or 2 of the above and I'd be thrilled! And actually, NONE of the three things above are THAT important, really. Even in beta, this is better than what I'm used to.
I am also not going to comment on questions about when particular UI features are going to be implemented, so please - for the love of God - stop asking me if/when UI feature "X" is going to be implemented in Safari.

The one thing I would love to see is a block images from this server CM. Like Netscape. I've become spoiled by not having to look at the damn flashing, moving, downright annoying ads on espn.com.
I have the feeling that you all never used OW, whit it's great features. pop-up blocking is one, and not loading images that are from doubleclick.com for example.. --> torifile..

I actually prefer the netscape way because it's easier to do. I may go back to OW until it can do this. Who knows....
In some circles beta means feature-complete i.e. the focus moves from implemening features to honing the current functionality, increasing speed and squishing bugs.
Does anyone know Apple's stance on this, because I think it unlikely that tabs will be added before 1.0 if they agree with the above sentiment as adding tabs is not a trivial undertaking.
There's no need to turn them on or off. You just don't use them if you don't want to.

i strongly disagree. i wouldn't want to look at them if i decided that i didn't like it, just like in IE i don't want to look at the Explorer Bar, so i turn it off
i think Mozilla alows you to turn it off
you guys are tabs nazi's
no, the tabs are only there if you use them...as in, you have to go up and choose open new tab or push command and T and the same time....so tabs are not there when you open chimera or when you go from site to site....g
Yeah, that's funny because I used Chimera before Safari and never even knew that the tab feature existed. I definately don't think it's a killer feature and won't sign the petition because I don't think it's really all that great. The only thing I miss from Chimera is the keychain...............
I don't see either a selected image server blocking in safari. i wanted to add it there but i'm used to chimera, if it had it's structure i'd have added it already. Also to some sites where i am logged in untill i log off, i always get logged off automatically. Blocked selected banners (ad.* , ad.doubleclick.* etc) and flash banners.. and tabs. No tabs = i'm in chimera. and the modifiable second tab = bookmark only is not enough for me yet. chimera has about all i need (boosted it's faster, ... it misses the background musics etc but i haven't missed them really)
Hey, you can always use the send bug feedback - button.. tell them the content is not visualised correctly .. = the tabs are missing

Anyone wants to sign my petition? I think it gets the meaning across despite the difficulties I have with english

why? it would be easy to make them to be able to be turned off and on
There's no need to turn them on or off. You just don't use them if you don't want to.

Yep.
