It is true. I watched the video. As Slewis also confirms, it's obvious that the diagram was the inside of the machine. You can see the computer device itself attached to the side of the inside of the machine.
If you really think about it, the cameras couldn't possibly be outside, in the room. Think about it.
They're under the screen. A shot of the inside makes it look like a room.

Ah, thank you for correcting me!
Even so..not feasable for a laptop because it requires that much space. Touch will work great, as you can see with the iphone, but when you want the type of external interaction you get with MS surface it doesnt work.
Another option would be to have wireless tags to everything, but that would seem way too much and unnecessary.
A 'convertable' laptop / tablet WITH MULTI-TOUCH isn't new?
I know the first part isn't but show me one which has a UI like the iPhone....
The hardware you're talking about, a keyboarded laptop with a swiveling top screen is commonplace amongst tablets.
Unfortunately, they are all heavy. The idea of a tablet is that it be thin, and light. The point of them is to be able to use them when holding them in the crook of your arm. These machines are too heavy for that.
Multi-touch or not, any tablet that weighs more than two pounds or so, is too difficult to use that way for more than a few seconds.
A tablet won't be useful, or popular, until it can be used like a clipboard. But, those weigh only a few ounces.
There's a big disconnect between the "idea" of a tablet, and what can be done, or what is being done, or being called a tablet.
Drop the keyboard, swiveling screen, mechanical Hd, optical drive, and anything that adds weight. Make it notebook sized, preferably able to work in a vertical position, like a clipboard, and keep that weight to less than two pounds, and you've got yourself a real, useful tablet.
I really like the idea about the 2 multi-touch screens with one acting as a keyboard, but I know that will not happen anytime soon. I would very happily settle for the multi-touch convertible tablet. The extra weight would be worth the functionality. I realize that neither of those will be comming out on the new MBP tomarrow (hopefully tomarrow I should say). In their place I would like to have a full keyboard with a number pad. My HP that I use now has one, and I will miss it when I get my new MBP this month.
Hm... not sure whether this makes me a tipster, teamster or gangster or whatever, but yeah... I was talking to a friend today, and she, more or less, confirmed all our suspicions. Her sister went in to the Apple store to buy a macbook pro, and the guy wouldn't let her buy one. He told her to come back in two days! I guess she argued with him for awhile (a little ignorant I guess) and finally realized the point he was trying to get across. WOOHOO for updates! Let's hope it's worth the wait...
2 days is Wednesday though.. unless this happened on Sunday.
Apple.com store says "be back soon". But anyways, for one Apple isn't as rigid about Tuesdays as I previously thought, I forget what it was, but I think there was a Wednesday release of something this year, and there was no major event happening that week.
Maybe the store wouldn't get its shipment until a day later?
They're not strictly on a Wednesday release schedule, Tuesday is just when it usually happens and thus more likely.
Example: Today is Tuesday and the Macbook Pro was just updated.
Sebastian
Yeah, I guess either my friend was referring to an event the day before I talked to her, or the guy at the apple store was just making sure he told her the right timeframe.
Well either way that guy saved her from complaining about a new update coming out right after she bought a Macbook Pro. He Should be employee of the year.
Sebastian
Dude, no kidding. That's huge! I had a friend who wasn't so fortunate last year. Bought his macbook and sure enough, an update came out within the week (or month). I'd give the employee my vote
Just curious... you think employees were encouraged to do such a thing? I'd think that the company wouldn't really want him to say anything. Whatever the case may be, it make Apple and its employees look like they care

I seem to temember reading that the cameras are UNDER the screen, not around the room.
Yeah, thats what I thought also, but it isn't true. According to this video interview from popular mechanics. http://youtube.com/watch?v=-9j_tYP-k...elated&search=

That's nothing new at all.

Will it happen? Maybe someday.
Well don't laugh too hard, those Tipsters are kinda like the Teamsters, upset them and you'll find Jimmy Hoffa, the hard way!!
IRT Topic, sounds like it will be a nice update. Too bad I really can't afford to go Pro...
Yay for Apple Retail Employees.
