With Apples decision to use mobile series Intel CPU's in their desktop series, would these find there way into a New, All Black Aluminum 24" iMacs (*hopeful thinking here on the color, since I don't like the black/silver two-tone) ?. Thanks
The 20% performance boost is all good and very welcome but more importantly how will the 45nm architecture affect heat issues and battery life? Will the MacBook Pro again be a laptop and not a very nice looking desktop-radiator/computer? Anyone know the wattage for the likely MBP processor candidates?
At least for me these issues are far more interesting than the inevitable performance gain...
it's my first post and i was just wondering if anyone out there had any ideas as to wether the proposed MacBook Pro's coming out Q1 2008 will have Nvidia or ATI Graphics chips. After releasing an ATI on the new imacs im a little confused as to the general direction of apple?

I seriously doubt that there is any general direction on that matter. I think Apple just adapts its choice according to (1) what the two major players have to offer, and (2) what are the thermal limitations of its designs, affecting everything except the Mac Pro.

just please let there be the Nvidia .. or better a MATROX hehe ATis can't handle D-X10
I read somewhere fairly recently that Intel would be shipping Penryn's in November. We all know Apple seems to have a priority with Intel and likes to be first into the field.
I'm sure Apple would be already completing testing of Penryn's, using a special pre-release batch and so I can't see why it won't have the MBP's all ready ramped and rolling by Jan.
They may even have them ready as early as November.
If left till Jan, I wonder if they also might add something else, like a blue-ray or flash mem on the top of the line MBP?
I also suspect that the subnotebook we've all been hearing about has been waiting for the cooler-running Penryn's to allow a smaller/slimmer form factor.
Intel won't change the architecture for another 12 months after Penryn, so there's nothing else blocking the subnotebook, I don't reckon it'll take too long now for the stealthtop to appear on the radar.
