Every time a new version of Chimera/Camino comes out people say it's "so much quicker". Wouldn't it be instantaneously fast at this point? I mean come on...either people stop spewing bullshit about browser speed and OS snapiness or I'll rip them a new one.

kim kap sol, are you comparing the official 0.7 release to, say, a very recent 0.6 release (such as March 3 or February 27), or to the official 0.6 release? I saw no difference in speed (or anything, other than the labeling) between the March 3rd nightly build and the March 6th official 0.7 release. However, 0.7 is definitely faster than 0.6. Just as 0.6 was faster than 0.5, and so on. Each point release is generally fast enough to notice a slight difference, although nightly builds tend to not make much difference.
Kelib uses Safari Beats the others be mile if you ask me. On these few pages that don't work I use Mozilla or IE. I don't use Safari cause it's an Apple TM product but because off its simplicity. Hope Apple keeps is simple.

Use Metallifizer or Safari Enhancer to remove the brushed metal look. I like both browsers for different reasons. It's just amazing how much things have improved in the past year. Both of these browsers are head and shoulders above Internet Explorer. It wasn't that long ago we just didn't have a credible aternative to IE.
Has anyone else noticed that Camino 0.7 is a hell of a lot more stable than 0.6. I've been using it for a few days and have not experienced one single crash yet!
Latest Camino nightly is up, and a lot of stuff has changed--for example, the text fields are now totally responsive. No spellchecking, but very responsive.

How true! Regardless of whether we prefer (and use) Camino, Safari, or both, there's no question that we've moved far beyond the age-old Internet Explorer with lightning speed. The improved browser situation has greatly strengthened my faith in the Mac platform.

Just downloaded the the 08/08 build. I think Chucker is right. The improved text entry fields and loss of Aqua widgets are a dead giveaway that we've moved up to the 1.3 (beta still?) trunk. It also renders pages noticeably faster on my iBook/500/320, especially from cache. As is to be expected, this build is less stable than the 0.7 milestone, and is likely to remain so for the next few weeks. But IMO, the improvements are well worth it.

You can find out much easier: type "javascript:navigator.userAgent" into the URLbar.
The result since the 2003-08-08 build is "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4a) Gecko/20030308 Chimera/0.7+". Note the "rv:1.4a".
Also note how Camino is (for now) back at plain XUL form widgets, which will be fixed in a while.

Having said that, type <a href="http://www.shrek.com,"; target="_blank">www.shrek.com,</a> enter the site, and wait for the flash animation intro.
IE renders it very good. Safari good. Camino terrible !
I still prefer camino's overall performance, though.

Are you sure about this? All there development sites still show them as being in the CHIMERA_M1_0_1_BRANCH.

800Mhz G4 and it's pegged every now and then and locks up.
