    Wow. The latest nightly build is EXTREMELY unstable. Looks like I'm going to Safari for a while until I either get around to downgrading to the official 0.7 release, or until Camino gets more stable again.

    A bug since 0.4.

    Another strange bug that occured to me is that in the 0.7 release, the mouse arrow doesnt disappear whn scrolling..?

    Weird. For me the arrow disappears consistently when I'm scrolling a web page, i.e. as expected.

    The Mac OS X browser experience is going to be confidence inspiring by the time 10.3 is out of the door later this year.

    Looking back to 10.1, things were pretty painful for a while there :-)

    It's also worth remembering that IE is due for an update soon, and no matter how much I hate it, I'm expecting a big improvement in the next release. Microsoft's Mac BU will not have been sat on their arses for the past two years, so better browsers all round.

    Luca: Try the 3/11 nightly build. It's much more stable than the 3/8 and 3/9 builds. In fact, it hasn't crashed on me a single time in about two hours of use. With the 3/9 build's instability, I gave up on the nightly builds and went back to the 0.7 milestone release. But with 3/11 being stable, I might go back to the nightlies.

    Same report--3/11 is running clean for me as well...though it does appear to be taking about 50% of the CPU. Weird.

    Uh, there haven't been any changes since 3/06. A new nightly is automatically compiled everyday, whether there's anything new or not.

    Uh, eVo, maybe you're on Valium or something. Check <a href="http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvsquery.cgi?treeid=default&module=Camino&branch=&; branchtype=match&dir=%2Fmozilla%2Fcamino&file=&fil etype=match&who=&whotype=match&hours=2&date=week&m indate=&maxdate=&cvsroot=%2Fcvsroot" target="_blank">this page</a> to see that there have been plenty of changes to Camino in the last few days.

    Could you be looking in the wrong place? Could it be that you are trying to download Camino nightly builds from the old Chimera directory? If so, make sure to check for nighhtlies here:

    <a href="http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/camino/nightly/latest/"; target="_blank">http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/camino/nightly/latest/</a>;

    Finally, type "javascript:navigator.userAgent" in the URL bar in one of the nightly builds compiled after the 0.7 milestone. The result will indicate that Camino is now using v1.4a code from the Mozilla trunk. Tell me that's not a major change from the 3/6 build (which uses 1.0 code from the trunk) and I'll hunt you down and tickle you to death!

    And to make it even more strange, it does indeed disappear when i scroll by using the arrow keys on the keyboard..

    T'hain: How else do you scroll? Pressing the space bar to scroll makes the mouse pointer disappear like the arrow keys do. However, I tried the page up/down keys. The mouse pointer indeed remains visible when using the page up/down keys to scroll. I don't use the page up/down keys much because they require me to press the "fn" modifier key on my iBook's keyboard, so I hadn't noticed this earlier. I also haven't tried to scroll with my mouse wheel, since the scrolling mouse is connected to my iMac, which runs OS 9 (and thus can't run Camino).

    A bug that is much more annoying is what I call the "lack-of-focus bug," descibed in <a href="http://macbb.eternaltedium.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=6365c6ab4afe5bd967e9f7d4f7b3dea9;a ct=ST;f=10;t=107" target="_blank">this thread</a> on the Mac Browsers Board. BTW, the <a href="http://macbb.eternaltedium.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=d24ba5ecf6b2192df05bba41486bfd90;a ct=SC;c=1" target="_blank">Camino forum</a> there is great for keeping up on Camino development.

    FWIW, MacInTouch posted the following in its Wednesday 3/12 update:

    [quote]Netscape's Steve Dagley warns about stability issues in the latest test versions of the Camino browser:

    We're seeing lots of feedback from people that are surprised the current Camino nightly builds aren't as stable as the ones leading up to the 0.7 milestone. This is to be expected as we move to the Mozilla trunk from the old Chimera branch. Some people may enjoy living on the bleeding edge during this transition but for those that don't we suggest sticking with the Camino 0.7 milestone release posted last week. <hr></blockquote>

    It certainly makes sense to let the general public stick with the 0.7 milestone.

    yah, i just went back to camino for a while...safari .64 seemed to slow down over time on my iMac and was having trouble loading more pages...

    so back to camino...

    things i would like in camino is snapback and i liked the metal of safari...it seemed more polished than camino...

    will head back to safari at around .8 and see what is up with it....

    gotta go change my buttons up top too...safari has nicer buttons too...

    You can change the "enter" key on the right of the keyboard into an "fn" key.... very useful...

    <a href="http://gnufoo.org/ucontrol/"; target="_blank">http://gnufoo.org/ucontrol/</a>;

    read this first:

    <a href="http://ragingmenace.com/software/ucontrol/index.html"; target="_blank">http://ragingmenace.com/software/ucontrol/index.html</a>;

    Also, you can use your trackpad to scroll <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" />

    give it a try... I'm not 100% sure it will work with an iBook, but I don't see why it wouldn't...

    Hey, Paul, that's pretty cool. I'll give those tricks a try when I get around to it, even though I don't usually like to mess with my system.

    For those of you who have had trouble with the recent nightly builds, today's (3/18) build compiled correctly again and seems quite stable. Get the 3-18 build here.
