    I don't know.

Their ad revenue is going down. Around most of the world MS is the gorilla in messaging. Apple bought a massive data center a year or so ago. Fickr is overrated, and is losing viewers. Don't know much about Zimbra.

    Sell off the advertising.

Zimbra is an Open Source based Mail/Messaging/Communication platform. Microsoft may not be attempting to buy Yahoo because of advertising but they probably want to kill off Zimbra

ZCS is compatible with proprietary clients such as Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail as well as the open-source Novell Evolution, so that mail, contacts, and calendar items can be synchronised from these to the ZCS server. Zimbra also provides native two-way sync to many mobile devices (Nokia Eseries, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile).

Then what would Apple be getting that would be worth $50 billion, and massive debt?

The only good answer is "something MS wants." Before MS' bid I don't recall anyone thinking about what Apple could do if it had Yahoo.

There are others who are contemplating bids. Let them all bid this up. If MS really wants it, they may have to pay more without Apple getting stuck.

That's not enough. I thought Microsoft's offer was batsh!t insane. If Microsoft wants to run off the nearest cliff, then that's their business. I see no reason for Apple to follow.

Clearly the friggin Scotsman does not know the difference between Apple, Inc. and Apple Corps.
