<strong>i'm still on 10.1.2...never updated to 10.1.3 becaused it didn't seem to add anything i needed at the time, and software update still scares me from the os 8 days.....so should i update to 10.1.4 or just stay with pat until 10.2??? g</strong><hr></blockquote>
If it ain't broke don't fix it. I might not do the update either. After 10.1.1 I had problems with 10.1.2 (which 10.1.3 fixed) so I don't know If I wanna take a chance.
1) better performance in the finder
2) Wow... Sherlock
3) Is there antialiased text in IE? (yesterdays IE update and 10.1.4)
4) Much faster/better java performance in IE (yesterdays IE update and 10.1.4).
5) MUCH improved scrolling in IE.
This is on a 500mhz iBook with 384MB. So far this is a no-brainer update for me.

Check your display settings. I bet they reverted to thousands of colors. Same thing happened with an earlier update on my ibook. A little Apple slight of hand, I think.

I find Sherlock to be a lot faster and now the finder is no longer giving me the beachball when I scroll in it
384 megs memory:

after it installs, open the terminal.
type (w/o quotes) "sudo shutdown now"
it will ask for your admin pass, type it, and after a few seconds, you will see a black screen and a localhost prompt in the upper right. type exit and you will reboot os x, after that, go to terminal, type uptime, and you will see that it has been preserved

Uptime isn't like dick=length you know. Just get over it and update, and please, STOP bitching about losing your uptime here. I'm sick of reading posts full of complaints related to how stable OS X is. If you'd rather not have to ruin your uptime when you update, go back to OS 9 or switch to Windows.

I have to say that 10.1.4 does make my system faster. Abit anyway. I have a B & W G3 running at 350 mHz and when I ran iTunes before, it used to take an extra bounce or two on top of the normal bounce amount. Now stuff launches as if iTunes is not running. Could it be the prebinding done at the end of the update?? Also, Sherlock is bloody fast now. I always cursed at it before, but now it is just as fast as the OS 9 version, possibly faster. <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

You have to actually keep "Internet Explorer" in your "Applications" folder. Took me a while to figure it out. I moved it to a folder called, "Internet" inside of my "Applications" folder, and no dice. As soon as it was moved back, I could get the update.
I'd still like one good reason why they removed this ability in 10.1.3....
