No. Apple will never release a product with that name. They will however, eventually in 2009 release a product called Mac touch. Which won't be a notebook (laptop), but will be a touch screen tablet. It's obvious.

The answer to your question is a definitive 'yes'. We know for sure that Apple is researching this technology and given its success in the iPhone, it is perhaps only a matter of time before we see some kind of larger Mac Touch. Apple may even launch a variety of models, including a 8"-10" screen in a new version of the Newton, as well as a full-blown replacement for the traditional laptop macs we know and love.

As much as such products require technical innovation and development to overcome packaging and reliability issues, Apple also needs to prepare the market for such products. It did a great job with the iPhone. But even so look at the sheer number of naysayers who immediately rejected touch screen typing. For most users it is no longer an issue. It just needed a period of adjustment to get used to it.

So, before long, It may well be that the entire Mac community starts typing on a glass touch screen keyboard. Add gestures, the accelerometer, and other refinements and the result is a revolutionary step forward in how we enter data into our computers. Think of it as a productivity and entertainment tool rather than a computer.

The $1,000,000 question is when will such a machine arrive. My money is a January 2010 announcement and a launch in June, six months later like the iPhone.

If the hype about the iPhone was incredible, the Mac Touch is going to go ballistic.

No no no no no no no no no nooooooooooooooooo--OH! *stomps up and down*

It will be 08 but......but late 08...yeah LATE 08!! It even rhymes! In LATE 08 Steve will debut the itouch!

I say late because in June it will be all about the iphone. But He still has to announce what is going on with this ipods in September before the Christmas season. And then I think he will debut the itouch because the device should be a relative of the ipod touch.

Thats my guess but I think its a good one.

Possibly Macworld '09. I'd bet Apple would love for it to be ready by then, but the things is will it be? The timing seems right. And it would probably be earlier than most expected, which is certainly what this company likes.

Does WWDC mean anything to yall?

    A few things:

The poster - - two golden gate bridges signify 1 technology, the iphone's revolutionary touch technology, splitting off into more that one thing, probably a touch mac... NOT the son of the newton, that idea will never work... even though i want it so bad

The website - - My guess is 2 things will be introduced... as if you look at the bar, there is 2 spaces 4 hint-hint ... 2 new products

I probably sound insane... that is because i am

    There you go

    Sebastian

Besides, it just Apple marketing. And this guy has fallen for it

I don't see you protesting the Mac touch tablet idea much these days Slewis, I mean Sebastian

The real answer, of course, is that this is a rumor site and none of us knows jack.

Like no of us "knew" Apple would do a phone, but the few who had half a brain could see it coming from a mile off. Apple "will" make a multi-touch Mac tablet, I can tell, can't you? It's bloomin' obvious. Like the way Apple making TV's is an obvious one too. They'll do something new sure, but it will be a TV. Mac touch FTW!

You only have half a brain? Um..that's not something I'd brag about even if it lets you predict future Apple products.

Apple has already made a tv... it was a computer w/ a tv tuner in it... it failed... horribly... they won't do it again

Apple won't do what Microsoft has done, they will not expand so far into every market that their software and hardware gets super crappy... they are expanding into the computing and audio business more yes, but they aren't going to move into anything else any time soon. The MIGHT move into the tablet business in the next year or so, but that is not a certain thing. Apple will also never make an UMPC, because in Stevo's mind he has - - iPhone
