A great attempt at exactly what i had in mind. When the promouse was released, i thought a that styling would be perfect for the next revision of the powermac. We got the quicksilvers instead. I actually like the quicksilver cases and would absolutely love Apple to release this case for the Powermac G5.
Anyone seen the new black Dells? I wouldn't want one in my house, let alone on my desk. No, I rather like the iSphere G5 idea, but a one could always try a FlatMac.
I agree, the innards of a PowerMac would never look like a Pro Mouse, and I'm quite sure they'd never look nearly as good regardless. Clear is definitely out. Let's think along the lines of this (just imagine it's a matrix):
Assuming Apple has some kind of system to the styling of their lineup at any given point in time, as opposed to Jonathan Ives just randomly calling all of the shots on his whim, you could fill in that the next Power Mac (G5/G4+) will be Titanium or some other less expensive metallic material, with bold curves, and more subtle rounded edges also.
Also, look at the iPod and AirPort. iPod has chrome and white/gloss, AirPort (2) has silverish and white/gloss. Power cords/adapters, either white and squarish, or silver. New white keyboards which will more than likely be across the line soon. The only thing that doesn't fit into Apple's design aesthetic anymore (other than the Power Mac, and displays), are the Pro Speakers..
Here's hoping they update all of those 'oldies' into the cool, new, sterile aesthetic.
