Many of us need to pay full price for Jaguar >:^(

The up-to-date program to Jaguar only works for those who buy machines today or later.

For us to bought Macs before today are NOT eligible for the upgrade price.

F*CK YOU APPLE!

A trip to Carracho on August sounds like a must.

Guys, I have only one thing to say in regard to this stupid idea of not paying for a major OS upgrade.......WHAT A CROCK!

Remember, if you are upset with Apple, be civil. Be polite. Swearing and ranting wildly will just get your e-mail tossed in the trash (or junk category, if they're using Jag-wire already ).

Yes, I'm quite upset too, but sending threatening letters isn't going to help at all. Either send something critical (but polite!) or use the most persuasive tool of all: the almighty dollar (or euro)... or in this case, I guess not using it would be prudent.

*note: I'm not advocating piracy... blah blah blah.

If Apple got a million swearing, ranting emails, you can bet your ass they would rethink their decision to charge for Jaguar.

I think Apple should be aiming to get as many Mac users updgraded to OS X as possible, and to establish a sterling reputation for OS X. Free 10.2 updates would have done this, by making sure that every Mac running OS X is running the best version possible, it improves Apple's image. I can't believe that Apple makes all that much money off these OS updates, seems to me that if they can spend nearly $100 million on an ad campaign, they can give out free OS X updates so that each Mac running OS X is an advertisement for Apple's latest technology.

Too bad for Apple, because if they had only charged $20-$40 they would have gotten my money. Now they aren't going to get a cent from me. Looks like I'll be firing up the CD-burner at my University's IT department....

I'll gladly pay the money, but I'm a Mac fool. I wish it was closer to $100 even, but it's not. I don't have too many complaints I guess because 8.5 I paid and 9 i paid and OS X i paid. Now I've been using OS X for awhile and the last upgrade i got the free copy at comp USA, which was a great move by Apple.

I guess they felt this upgrade was no different than the 8.6 to 9 upgrade, and i'll trust that it is worth it. The features i saw, were very nice and i expect it to make my experience even better on my Mac.

For those talking of pirating it and stuff...maybe STFU if that's what you plan on doing. I'd prefer not get any ill-feelings towards some of the regular posters over supporting Apple. If you don't like paying for OS upgrades, get a PC. Oh wait they pay and pay and pay , even more than us mac users. Life isn't so bad

    1) They offer discount on Jaguar and I will gladly pay for it

    or

    2) Keep selling it at this f*cking price. I will go to pirate it. And I will hand out hundreds of copies to my friends and others. Apple by then will know they are making a stupid mistake.

Leonis...I'd rather you had a student friend get it for $69 or whatever than sit here on AI and say you're going to pirate.

You obviously don't represent the majority of the people on this forum. If you plan on pirating it, at least have the sense to stfu and just do it. You don't need to tell the world of your illegal plan That's all I have to say on the pirating issue

Full price for a crock of stuff that was supposed to be in the first releases?

Well...we may just see a turnaround...upgrade prices may well surface very soon...

I have to say at least your funny Pirates....sorry to say I won't be joining you. I'll pay for my upgrade just like I have everytime.

If someday you want Apple to have keys and bs like Microsoft keep pirating and force their hand at stopping you. if you're all such cheap bastards, then get some poor student to pick you up a copy for $70 or so.

I can't see spending anywhere from $1500-$3500 on a computer only to bitch about $130 or so to get it to run good. Strange i swear that poll said mac users were smarter...Hmmmmm

As you guys can see in earlier posts of mine from today, I was VERY pissed about the price of Jaguar. The more I thought about it, Apple's in a way being fair. This is a major update even though it's "only a .1 update". Jaguar's got many new features. That's why I placed my order for Jaguar tonight ($69, edu store).

Well....I can ask my friend who works in the university bookstore to get the edu version.

But what I felt mad at is the way Apple treat their loyal customer. They keeping thinking they are taking those customer (us) for granted.

Well. I need a few days to calm down.

For whatever it's worth, MacZone appears to be taking preorders on Jaguar at $119.

I had my sister wait to get an iBook for college. Once she gets the thing I'll send in $20 and get the upgrade and accidentally slip it into my CD drive and accidentally start the installer. What did they call that, where you have one CD you can copy as many times as you want as long as you pay for that one CD. I'll be putting it to work in a non-profit, education/home environment. I wish I didn't have to, but being a student myself I can't pay for updates. $20 isn't so bad so long as I get Dev Tools and a book.

I sincerely wonder whether everyone would be quite so upset at the price if Apple had called Jaguar 10.5 instead of 10.2. This is clearly not a minor upgrade, so maybe it's a psychological thing about this being a point release only. In other words, if going from 10.0 to 10.1 only cost us $30, why should going up another 0.1 cost us a hundred bucks more than that, right?

Not that I'm eager to spend $129 on another OSX upgrade... then again, I probably won't pay that, as I'll be buying a new Powermac later this summer when the next ones come out, and I'll either wait until they come with Jaguar pre-loaded, or at worst I'll buy one earlier and get stuck with the $20 upgrade.

...paid $30 for PublicBeta, paid $99 for 10.0, got 10.1 for free, 18 months after 10.0, 10.2 is gonna be $129. Sounds fair to me.

I guess Apple should just give everything away. This isn't the Federal government people, they are accountable to shareholders and the bottom line. If Apple doesn't turn a profit, Apple doesn't exist. Pirate 10.2 at your own peril.

BTW, chicks absolutely hate cheap mofos. So, plan on spanking it while you are using your pirated 10.2.
