Not to be argumentative about the poor sales of iPhones in Japan, but what evidence?

I think it is fair to say that the reports of poor sales are anectodal, as the principals have not disclosed actual sales, but there are, nevertheless, reports of poor sales of the iPhone in Japan. Time will tell whether they are truly accurate or not.

There is no official data as to how well the iPhone is doing in Japan, but the reports prior to it's sale stating it's imminent failure because the Japanese prefer more complex, feature rich phones certainly seems incorrect. The few links I posted below are some example of stores being sold out before it officially goes on sale and magazines dedicated to the iPhone popping up. Since we don't know how many unit the stores received or if the sales continued we don't know for sure, but it does seem to point to a better rollout that many expected. We've had some Japanese posters here that have stated that those full featured phones are so complex that most features are never used.

Like Steve Jobs said in an interview. There are hedge funds that are shorting Apple and now need to have its price drop so they do not lose money. Its not about how Apple is doing, its about how people in control of the stock market make profits by coming up with crap like this. The Govt should intervine but you know that they will not.

Apple is doing better than anyone and almost everyone combined right now and it does not look like its slowing down. Growing at a sustainable clip, sure.

Me, I found a few extra bucks and bought a few more shares. its a buying oppertunity. PS, its late and I cannot spell anymore. Maybe I should be a part time anal---yist late at nite. LOL

    Just a thought.

Most people buying iPhones don't walk into an ATT store looking for some kids opinion about RIMM vs. Apple. So, in short, who cares what they say.

The competition from Apple is good for the entire segment. Have we ever seen this kind of innovation from RIMM, Palm, and Nokia in such a compressed timeframe before? And, it will drive Apple to keep the iPhone evolving and improving.

Apple has turned the handset market on it's ear. While the competitors chase the interface, Apple can continue to advance to the endgame.

This is an important point: What % of iPhones are sold through Apple (v. ATT) stores?
