Seen any problems going from 10.1.5 to 10.2?

I was wondering if there were any problems out there, i.e.;

Wacom, Intellimouse, CiscoVPN, Toast, Office, Vuescan, AIM, suitcase, personal setting like fonts+screensavers+icons.

Will I be able to just upgrade or will it make REAL sense to wipe'n'rebuild?

Thanks.

Phil.

p.s. How's printing now?

    I recently upgraded to build 98 and haven't had any problems. my personal settings and user accounts all carried over just fine.

    Office works without any problems. I've tested Word, Entourage and PowerPoint.

    Toast also works but doesn't seem to recognize my CD. I think this is a problem with my build of 10.2 not recognizing my CD burner - 10.1.x always recognized it so I don't see why this won't be the case in 10.2.

    AIM - why bother? you have iChat.

    Toast, Office, Suitcase all work fine in 10.2. AIM client - use iChat.I haven't tried the others. I'm using build 6C113. Printing kicks ass now.

    The AIM client is unreliable in the golden master (6C115). I'd try out iChat, it really isn't all that bad

    I mean, so I hear this is the case. Hypothetically...

    Will 3rd parties hacks/"haxies" from Unsanity, like Winshade X and Fruitmenu, or TinkerTool, cause problems? Will they need to be updated for Jag?

    TinkerTool is not a hack. It simply gives you access to options that Apple didn't put a GUI in for. Yes, you should get the updated version for Jagwire.

    Unsanity's hacks, however, are extremely buggy, unreliable, and crash-prone in Jagwire. They will probably have to re-hack them to work.

    So we should remove them? Wait a minute, how do we uninstall programs! :eek: I've never done this in OS X! I feel like a Windows user all of a sudden...

    I made a 1 MB tutorial movie some time ago explaining the uninstall process (works on 99% of the apps, otherwise the app will come with a special uninstaller).

    In the case of your haxies, they are probably located at ~/Library/PreferencePanes.

    Hot Damn that's a nice scheme! I like your iTunes icon too

    I don't believe hacks would uninstall that easily! I mean in theory it sounds great, but look at the IE 5.2 installer. It seems like no one follows the OS X rules when they make programs I mean many companies don't use packages. Which I have come to REALLY like. I will investigate Unsanity's haxies on their site. I will report my uninstallations and switch to Jaguar. Though maybe I'll let the brave MacFixIt Readers figure it first

    Also in BBEdit if you try and click on a window in the application you just click through it instead i dont know why it would do that but what ever guess i will just have to use dreamweaver.

    I've done it myself. How else would I know they don't work in 10.2?

    Brad, can you give me the name of the theme you are using in the Deleting IE movie?

    I have to have that theme!

    <off-topic>

    Actually, that was THE first theme for Mac OS X... I started it back in the Public Beta days. Long before Sprocket or Theme Machine or whatever new-fangled things they have now.

    Back when men were men and X was slow. I mean REALLY slow. Ah, the good old days. But I digress.

    I updated it for 10.0 and mailed it of to a few dozen people, but never got around to updating it for 10.1. It seems a few others have expressed an interest in it; so, I might bring it back to 10.2.

    </off-topic>

    Back on topic, anyone using a "theme" on Mac OS X should be EXTREMELY CAREFUL before considering putting a "theme" on Jaguar. Many things have changed since 10.1 and the old themes will seriously cripple your computer. Developers will simply have to update their files before redistributing for Jaguar.

    Very creative Brad. It has hints of Sosumi (hehe.) Didn't SnWave do that?

    I think it would've been helpful if Steve had taken 10 seconds and explained the new numbering, mentioning 10.2 is what we're used to seeing as 10.5. Maybe there wouldn't even be the mass virtual riots over pricing Nah, people always have to bitch about something. But since he said he had a "long keynote" with "lots to talk about."... Man when I heard those words... ...Would've been worthwhile to mention. It's not too late either...

    Jaguar is quite a new beast. I think next revision should be Snow Leopard! :cool: (: Cool :, geddit? Ok it's late. )

[quote]I think next revision should be Snow Leopard!

Actually, it's already been noted that the next version's code name it Pinot. The "correct" French pronunciation is pee-NO. I wonder what Steve will call it... "pie-not"?
