Interesting. My first thought is "looks good". But there's some huge reflections in that screen.

Maybe.. but I doubt it.
Actually, I'm still hoping for a touch screen.
Speaking of new screens... does the linking of a 24inch iMac-like screen with the release of a new MBP, along with display port rumours and dual DVI mean that the 24inch screen is intended as a "partner product" to the MacBook? Like they expect us to use a separate keyboard/screen/mouse when at our desk.
If companies make an anit-glare screen protector for the iPhone, they can certainly do it with the MBP.
God I hope there is a non-glossy option.
As for the no trackpad button.... interesting. I thought clicking and dragging would be a pain, but perhaps since the trackpad has multi-touch I can just hold my thumb in one place (like it would normally hold the button) and drag with my finger.
Whatever happens, I'll be buying one. If there's a 17" one that is. \
Well, from that picture, the mechanical latch on the MBP is still there. I had also hoped they would go all magnetic.
I don't see the latch. The picture has a grip indentation just like the current MB and MBA. It has no button to release the latch like the current MBP.
Looks like a Macbook Air got nailed by an iMac. The black keyboard doens't look that good, but I don't think white would look good also. The current keyboard would look ok I guess. I don't like the look presented so far......it might grow on me however.
Interesting, when I go to Apple's website and go to a macbook or pretty much anything in the notebook family it gives me an error when I press "buy now" I dont know if this means anything but I've never seen the message before and it doesnt happen when I press buy now on any of the iPod or cinima display pages. Is this happening to anyone else?

That's a nice background on that MacBook Pro... oh, wait, that's acoustic ceiling tile.
That's an Apple BOH (Back of House) if I ever saw one (so close to an Apple retail store), I wouldn't be surprised if Job's hunts them down and takes away their iPhone.
That is a real picture and a real Apple store. (Back of House).
That's weird it's still happening to me every time I open a new window go to apple.com click on mac then click on macbook then buy now I get an error when the page loads. Maybe it's just IE. The error says

They want to make sure that you can't connect their overpriced monitors to anything in four years.
The notebook would have a mini DP. The monitor would have a standard DP.

As the entire screen is covered in glass like the iMac. Non glossy doesn't look likely.
If they release this thing I will be selling my iMac and buy it along with a new MBP.

Very interesting idea. I suspect this would be very useful ... and for many people would be a stepping stone to other multitouch functions.

a guy can hope.
Won't glass make it rather heavy tho?
So Apple is going to raise MacBook prices by $200 instead of lowering them by $200?
In Australia we're fearing a 30% price increase to match our falling dollar.
Since this event is MacBook only, maybe the $899 display is basically this.
If they release this thing I will be selling my iMac and buy it along with a new MBP.
Maybe that's what that weird "extra" port is?

works fine for me

No, the whole trackpad is a button, it clicks down. "Clickity click". You can click and drag with one finger in one sweeping motion.

the one I work at doesn't look like that.
