    All you crashers, have you ever used a PC?

    Were you afraid of this when you installed?

    <babbling-don't-read>

    It's to my knowledge that Apple has programmed fear sensors into jag to root out the fake mac fanatics. They have spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on finding out how dogs do it so they could incorperate it into their OS.

    I've had no problems at all, infact I find it crashes less. (well i can't say that, because i've never had crash problems...fact is i can count my crashes since 10.0.0.4 on my left hand)

    10.2 doesn't highlight icons on the desktop that are Finder-created icon previews. Agreed, it's annoying.

    For what it's worth, my current uptime is like 11 days or something (which is when I installed the 10.2.1 update)

    This happened a few times, i logged out from my computer, reached the login screen (the one where u need to type a password) and then i closed the lid of the ibook, expecting it to sleep.

    SOB. it never did. the screen went blank on me and none of the controls worked. luckily restarting my ibook gets the computer runnning again.

    Now, I always have this fear of putting my ibook to sleep... <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

    Yes. On my b&w 450.

    No. On my iBook 700.

    Yeah, Jag acts up a lot for me. I actually had a total lockup of the system the other day, and I am constantly getting hang-ups on the machine. Also I notice internet seems to drop sometimes....I was wondering if that was the university network or my computer....guess it's the computer..

    Too much weird stuff going on for my liking so far.

    Hangs like mad on a DP 1 GHz, so that should tell you something...

    I guess there's no way of getting stats on who has had no problems and who has had plenty, but i know I've been using OSX since Public Beta and since installing 10.1 I've never had a kernel panic or system hang on me. Never, zip, nada. When you are developing its so important to have a stable platform and OSX is that platform! So stop ya whinging....

    All installs I have done were updates. No problems on a G4 733 DA QS (original), TiPB 500, DP gig QS (original) and Beige G3 w/ 500 MHz, Firewire/USB card, Radeon Orion PCI, 40 GB 7200 rpm HD (all works including SCSI yamaha CDRW). All but Beige sharing Airport through DHCP DSL. All have max Ram

    Here is my weird Jaguar symptom - Sometimes when I am cleaning out a folder, that is, moving more than about 100 files at a time, the gay-positive beachball spins and spins and spins. After I force quit the finder, I see that they files have indeed been moved completely, but the window they were moved from does not update until I relaunch the finder.

    Last night I moved 85 files at a time with no problem, but anything more than about 100 or so locks up the system with an angry beachball (and user)

    Ideas?

    I have been running X on my 550 PowerBook since 10.0.4 and have had only 2 visits from Colonel Panic. Those were both under 10.0.4. Under 10.1 I had programs freeze often especially after waking from sleep. I have had no system crashes or panic's since 10.2 and have only had one program crash (Chimera Navigator 0.5)a couple of times. I guess some of us are just lucky.

    I have a new mirror face DP 1 GHz and it's completely, 100% perfect. No crashes, no hangs, no stuttering, no lost connections, no freezing, no problems whatsoever. And I use the hell out of this thing, every day for hours. I never shut it down and I never need to restart it unless I install something that requires it.

    Those of you having problems like the ones I listed should be looking for ways to fix them, because it's not normal behavior. For example, anybody having problems with icons not being draggable should delete this file:

    /Library/Caches/com.apple.dock.iconcache.&lt;username&gt;

    And see if that clears is up. Also, try booting into single user mode and running fsck.
