Quick: wänn du alles gläse hettisch, hetsch au das gfunde... [quote] Note: For some screenshots, a different appearance theme was used on the test computer, so the design scheme of dialog boxes and windows will vary.

Are you serious? That's gotta be one of the ugliest themes I've seen.

Quicktime was updated a few days ago. It was approximately a 20MB download but they didn't choose to add the nibs for the new Brushed Metal look with lowered window widgets. The player still uses a custom metal appearance. Is this because QuickTime is Apple's only software which has to run on Windows too? Anyway, I'm a bit disappointed to see this kind of inconsistency. iPhoto and iTunes will definitely have the new metal theme when they hit the market in a few weeks. Why didn't Apple seize the opportunity to adopt the new appearance?

The entire interface would likely have to be rewritten from scratch for that to happen. When Apple updated the metal texture recently, all the developers had to do was replace a single texture resource in the QuickTime Player.rsrc file.

This is a far more complex issue than I believe you are seeing.
