C. Use OSX 90% of time but have an old mac at work using OS9.
But, a teacher friend called me out of the blue asking about Jaguar and telling me that it is now free for teachers (too late )
Anyway, she and her friends are still mostly using OS9-ish. Why? Inertia. And, sadly, schools have had their own switching campaign going--from Mac to PC. So educators are may be less likely to make a commitment to a new Mac OS thinking they may have to switch to Wintel anyway.
This is an example of the demographic of OS9 users. Not the people frequenting Appleinsider. Reread what Spooky wrote. I suspect he explains well the reaction of a lot of non-power users. But OSX is great and getting better. They all will come.
A. Exclusively OSX at home and lab since I got the new iBook (coincidental with the release of Jaguar). The only occasion I've had even to launch Classic in the last four months was to open a .sea of photos a family member sent me. In fact, I'm thinking about reclaiming the 4GB Classic partition now lying fallow.
Use OSX at home/work but have to boot into Classic for a few apps now and then (mostly Quark). Does inDesign open Quark files by chance?
My wife uses 9 at work and X at home. She's a X convert after I got her an iBook for Xmas.
One thing I don't like about X is that Dreamweaver files open MUCH slower than before (20 - 30 secs per document). Is it just me or does this happen to others?
A. OS X all the time, in dorm, in campus labs... we do not use OS 9 here. Though I occasionally have to use the nasty XP machines, and on occasion the Sun and Linux boxen.
I run a small (6 machines) X-only computer lab at work (medium-sized college campus) and out of probably a couple hundred Macs total, mine probably account for half running X on the campus.
A since there's no Macs in my school except for a couple of really old Performas.
What I don't understand about the new PCs in my school is that they're brand new Dells that obviously campe with XP but they're running Win 98.

We used to have Macs ages ago.
It's exactly like that at my school, they're the black Dell Towers labeled "Graphics Series" They have the made for Windows XP sticker on them but installed is 98, must but Novell or something.
I have used OSX on a 350Mhz B&W G3 mac since the public beta.
Things have improved quite a bit since then. I remember being very frustrated with all the help being on the internet only, and I couldn't connect because I was using a calling card, and you could not disable 'detect dial tone'.
Since then I have become very 'zen' about the speed of my mac, but once I start running a design/photography business, I will definitely have to upgrade (to a 12 inch aluminium powerbook!
I use X only, however my son uses 9 because all of his computer games are for 9. It really sucks and I wish I could just dump 9 on his and turn it into a X machine, but he doesn't know the difference, he is only 5.
I use OS X almost all the time at home on my iBook. The only time I boot into OS 9 is for a few games that I play at LAN parties with my friends.
When I'm in a computer lab at school, I'm using OS 9 most of the time. I've only seen one school-operated OS X machine in the single semester I've been a student at the University of Minnesota.

I have OS X (again, no Classic) at work but use Win 2K pro mostly. Will be switching that to a linux distro in the next month or so.

Loaded 10.2 on my iMac last August, and haven't looked back!
... but I did start Classic once or twice to run the odd program.
