In any case, the degree to which she of all analysts moves the market is pretty amazing.

She didn't move anything. Apple is moving just like it almost always does - moderately more than the overall market, in the same direction.

China's contract alone will surpass US sales for the iPhone by two or three fold.

Upgrades and downgrades from the major investment houses always move a stock's price.

That is a very good point. If Apple gets the iPhone into China (all but certain), then doubling their mobile phone share is a lead pipe cinch.

Appl was down on friday by 3 o4 bucks and it was due to bounce back up this week . With this guys upgrade the bounce up is just a bit higher.

Feel that in the future as all the old unwanted as a phone Iphones will turn into touch's by secret magic spells .

I also feel that the iphone path and the itouch path will diverge from each other .

one will be a phone centric do everything device

one will be a video/picture music centric do everything device

The touch will get a bit squatter over time.

The touch one day will out sell the iphone.

The touch one day will make carrier free phone calls.

the itouch will be used as a top gaming device

nano iphones will out sell all other phones 3 to 1

i tunes and app-store will make a big profit for yrs to come after the tipping point is reached

apple will open a software store for windows and linux platforms

filemaker pro will be the first item sold there

filemaker pro lite will be included on every window machine made ?for a fee

apple is beginning to create one off products that are so highly refined and perfect that no major improvements can ever be made. they will enter into a sort of icon product zone . these machines will be passed down to younger ones and the same exact machine re bought

    MBP15 makes the grade .

So ask me why I think aapl is a buy . Go a head ask me .

Stocks are never "due" for anything, up or down.

Seconded. It's sometimes unbelievable how people do not get that simple point. (And, it's those that the market trades against, and makes its money off of!).

Not irrelevant at all, Dr Dre. iPods were a major success because of universal internet access. Anybody could buy and use them, even your preteen patients, as long as they had access to the internet. No fee (do doctors understand that concept?) required- major difference.

When people say this sort of thing, I often ask them to describe their Infallible Stock Market System. Sadly I never seem to get one because it would certainly simplify my life if I knew what the market was going to do before it happened.

    Dr. Who?

Again, not relevant. The worldwide mobile phone market is already immense, and if you read the article you will see that Apple's share in it is currently in the low single digits. Simply growing it 1%, from 2% to 3%, represents a 50% gain in revenue for Apple -- which would represent a huge growth in profits. Morgan thinks they can do it, and so do I.

$180 from $105? Shouldn?t the question be how she had such bearish opinions of AAPL in the first place, and what has changed between her last downgrade and this upgrade?

Specifically, she downgraded the stock back in September when it was sitting at $128.24 purely as a ?the sky is falling? call. All of the iPhone specific macro factors that make her bullish now were in place then.

Now it?s a great buy, due to grow 70% from her previous target of $105?

I guess the data that she chose to ignore in September is now worth factoring in late May?

Honestly, other than providing kindling wood for short-term momentum plays, I am not sure what purpose most analysts serve.

They certainly aren?t held accountable for being right or even well-reasoned in their analysis.

iPods are the music device- period. This is far from that. there are many parts to the smart phone pie- it's not all iPhone like iPod was. iPod had no competition.
