Don't worry, Apple is coming soon with a new MacBook.
Do you think they will keep only one white model for the next 12 month?
In rebranding the macBook 13 inch a MacBook Pro, this mean they will offer soon a new MacBook with a new design.
For me, I can imagine a MacBook with a touchscreen replacing the keyboard. Imagine a full keyboard on a touchscreen. You can change that keyboard for a piano, or iMovie control or whatever.
If this is the case explain to me why apple renamed their 13 inch a mac pro and kept the macbook name of the white plastic one?
I am not the only person who thinks apple is doing something with that move and a tablet type device (wether you want to call it a netbook or a tablet) fits that.
Yes I am calling people fanboys. No matter if you have evidence or not you get bashed on this site. Its funny because i dont get treated like this at the actual apple stores. You would think that apple fans would treat people the same way their favorite company treats people.
I am also not the only one who thinks about the apple tablet/netbook thing
Investment bank Piper Jaffray on Friday called out Wall Street for not fully recognizing the impact of price cuts on Apple's new Mac notebook lines introduced this week, saying the move will in all likelihood boost the company's quarterly Mac growth to respectable rates in line with his model.
In other words, what the hell isn't the stock price going up to meet my target price?
go to fatwallet, most people don't care. they see a computer as a computer. they don't care if it's OS X or Winders. they will look at 2 computers and buy the cheaper one even if the other one has a better LCD and other features. for them it's not going to change the user experience and AV software doesn't cost $150 a year. i haven't bought it in years, but i think it's like $20 a year
So over 5 yrs whta does A/V cost ?? I would not know .

my work PC is close to 5 years old and it's an HP. cost around $700. $18 a year for Symantec enterprise and $30 for more RAM and it went from XP to Windows 7 with no problem.
can't play games or do anything that requires a good video card, but with 4GB RAM it's good enough for most tasks. i might even try to put OS X on it one of these days. i just uploaded it into VMWare and will probably try to install it next week.
Of course they are, despite it not just being price cuts, but a slight speed bump and, most importantly, a much faster and longer lasting battery all at the same weight as before. The battery is very impressive. I wonder how the competition will reply since they are already losing out on the premium notebook market as it is. Now a 13” MBP can last a student through a day of classes and through their entire degree.
PS: Anand reviews the new MBP and does a battery of tests on the battery (see what I did there?):

NO sir.Your whole post is poorly made. And leaves out the number one reason why the $600 to 3000 dollar dell/hp/ace boxes/ Can never match up against MBP. Never
MAC OSX.
And please feel free to go online and try to match exactly a dell to a mac MBP 13" in all ways .
The apple is still more powerful, does more things perfectly and costs less than dell. And apple does not charge 150 a year on virus protection.
THE physical box is a big issue too. apple has a uni body machine. DELLmay contain abunch of refub parts inside a poorly bulid box.
I wonder exactly why you post on a apple site since ms is much better.

I would hope you would do some research yourself. I just went to Apple's and Dell's website and tried to match the two machines in question as close as i could...
Apple's MacBook (white, 13.3") at $1,148
(not incl. tax and the rest)
I had to match the Hard Drive to the Dell (320 Gb drive was the smallest offered by Dell compared to Apple's 160 Gb)
I included iWork
Dell's Inspirion 13.3" = $982
Includes MS Office Home/Student + Adobe acrobat 9.0 to match iWork, sure this might not be a perfect match but it's close enough.
2.2 GHz 800 MHz FSB (this is the only difference)
Added a webcam and Hi def display to match the MB.
Added back-lite keyboard to match the MB.
I think the MB has a "N" wireless card to I even added that to the price of the Dell as well.\\
The CD/DVD burner has the Roxio software combo drive, closest match to Apple's super-drive.
Both machines have 2 Gb DDR RAM, Dell doesn't specify the clock-speed of the RAM so it's might be different.
So here's the best possible match i can make of the two (without spending more than 15 mintues pricing). I can't speak to the argument that Dell uses refurbished parts, I believe that might also be conjecture.
I'm not bias on Dell, just wanted to see for myself. Now, i totally agree with the OSX vs. Windows Debate. Leopard is way more stable and yes you don't have to pay for Virus protection. So it's probably more costly for the Dell in the life of the computer.
Ok, so i didn't price out the Mac Book Pro, see the post below by gozar (nice name, "are you a God?").
Intel® Core? 2 Duo P8600 (3MB cache/2.4GHz/1066Mhz FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1, 64-bit
Microsoft Works 9.0 - English: Spreadsheet, Word Processor and Calendar
1Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty, InHome Service after Remote Diagnosis
Edge-to-Edge 13.3" HD WXGA Slim WLED LCD with 1.3 Megapixel Camera
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1067MHz (2 Dimms)
250GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
Slot Load DVD+/-RW (DVD/CD read/write)
NVIDIA® GeForce® 9400M G
Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini-Card
Additional 9-Cell Battery
Macbook Pro 13 $1,349.00
# 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
# 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
# 250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
# SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
The Dell doesn't have FW or a backlit keyboard, but it has a faster processor, faster hard drive, and an additional battery. The difference isn't as big as I'd thought. You can't even get 7,200 RPM drives on the 13" Macbook pro.
For me, I'm happy with my 3 year old Macbook, and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon. And if I was stuck buying the Dell, Ubuntu is an option for the Studio XPS 13. :-)
Why Apple? I understand why other manufacturers have them, but never will anyone explain why Apple should? If your answer is "sales", then LMFAO
Unfortunately this entire argument, despite rearing its ugly head from time to time, is still just as worthless as the first time anyone brought it up.
Apple is not, and has no intention of bringing that cheap of a notebook to market any time in the foreseeable future. And rightfully so. They have the iPhone/iPod touch, which yes, DOES take the place of a worthless netbook.
The 9 in screen argument is senseless. Yes that might work better for someone over the age of 50 who refuses to buy reading glasses, but that is not a marketable demographic.
Anyone who uses an iPhone knows it replaces the need for a netbook, and is much MORE useful in other avenues, such a reliability, battery life, pick up and play fun, fast intuitive navigation. (did I mention NONE of the headaches associated with owning a garbage windows pc?)
Its good for the world that people like you that want to keep regurgitating this nonsense about netbooks DO NOT work for Apple, as they understand that they are garbage and should never receive the Apple or OS X label. Doing so would immediately and permanently degrade both brands.
All for the silly housewives running facebook and email. Not. Gonna. Happen.
I think the reason for people wanting a Mac Netbook would be for the design, UI, and preference of OSX to Windows or Unix based systems. That way all the Mac people can sync to their other MAC, like a drone. I'm not a Mac User (i'd prefer Mac but i have my reasons, more work-purposes than anything else) but I would really like a smaller Laptop by Mac. Mainly for two of the reasons i stated above. I love my iPhone and it's UI, and I love the design. It's really easy to use and really freakin' cool.
Yes, Steve Jobs has came out months ago in an interview saying that Apple wouldn't waste it's time on something as cheap and SLOW as the current line of Net Books. Agreeably so...But the iPhone OS (which is a dumbed down OSX) works fine for me. Maybe with a faster Processor and next-gen wireless, Apple might have a compelling case for making at least a large-format display iPod Touch?
For the reasons stated by the Poster you are critizing, some people just need a computer that can view email, internet (including flash sites, shame on Adobe/Apple for not getting on this with the iPhone) and maybe some kind of games and word processing. That's what most people (IMHO) do with computers.
If i were in the market for a netbook; for example, I need something with a little more umph considering i'm an architect and need something that can do photoshop/AutoCad/SketchUp without a hic-up. So the new Netbooks out may not work for me. However, the average user would work fine.
Oh, and Facebook Apps (which IMO is the only thing of value with FB) don't work on the iPhone, nor do anything website with Flash and some banking sites.

Pretty close.MBP does have the uni body.and OSX.And apple has no extra virus cost or crash issue's . .
And i have no idea how a dell machine software will sync between movie's photo's and song's. Apple has a flawless sync between all facets of its media software. I am not so smart around computers. so apple's ease of use is important.
Again i wish all dell people good luck with there dell's.

the regular Studios seem to be better
i priced one out while reading the WWDC live blog and they are more similar to MBPs in specs and don't have the premium price of the XPS. if i was going to spend around $1500 on a laptop and apple made a MBP with a slower CPU and a 15" LCD i'd probably choose that over a Dell. i have an HP from work and will never buy an HP again.
i've read the new Dell's will take OS X with no hacking since almost everything is EFI bios now

That's a great article. despite how people feel about Gizmodo's reliability, I don't believe they've stated anything that wasn't fact. They have several proposed scenarios for why Apple has left the MacBook name with only one model.
To me the $999 MacBook is like the iPod classic, if you get rid of the classic then what do you have for the die-hards and the people who want a large-storage MP3 player and that's it...
An article on AI a few months ago talked about how the Mac Mini as one of the biggest sellers in the line up mainly because they work well as piggy-backed servers and low-cost drone machines. My point is, I'm sure there are other aspects of the MacBook economy to give reason why they keep this tired old machine; at least, other than the Home consumer. IMO, MacBook pros are mearly for business or gaming geeks or people who want the "top-of-the-line" and use about 10% of the potential.
I actually like the idea that Apple might be re-inventing their CORE line. AI had another post last year around September that stated Apple is gearing up for a "secret" hybrid devised that will be a "game-changer". They didn't release this secret device when all the blogs and news site stated (which was supposed to be September or October last year). Perhaps the economic down-turn put the kabash on it and now is the time. The article also talked about how the price of this mystery device would be the game changer.
Since if you would be using iTunes on the Dell it would be the exact same syncing experience. :-)
No my friend, no.
i meant that kind of syncing but also, the kind where all of your various media's working together in sync. For example i am making an imovie about my son's easter weekend off. WHILE THE IMOVIE SCREEN IS OPEN and i am choosing scenes to include. I also have iphoto and my music right there. A simple drag and drop, drops the song or picture right into the movie. Even if the media content is on my lacie drive's or drives.
All of this is flawless. The ease of use needs no manuel or playbook at all.
I do not know about if a DELL could match this level of fantastic media content control. I can match what a TV studio did 3 yrs ago.

The Apple tablet will run OSX in full.
It will measure 8"x6".
It will be all glass front and A UNI back.
It will fit in lab coats.
It will be the highest best selling gaming machine ever sold. It will debut with a 50,000. App store.
It will do almost anything a MBP or itouch or iphone can do.
It will have 2 or 3 ports to allow SD or dvd or Extra battery.
Apple will make this when it is ready.
Just a fanboys thought's
Wall Street in 3 weeks will begin to daily edge up apple stock.

As i said i wish you luck with MS DELL.
I don't lie .
I await a one on one
Dell vs 13"mac MBP.

I would hope you would do some research yourself. I just went to Apple's and Dell's website and tried to match the two machines in question as close as i could...

Dell has razor thin profit's. So they must cut corner where they can .

the regular Studios seem to be better
i priced one out while reading the WWDC live blog and they are more similar to MBPs in specs and don't have the premium price of the XPS. if i was going to spend around $1500 on a laptop and apple made a MBP with a slower CPU and a 15" LCD i'd probably choose that over a Dell. i have an HP from work and will never buy an HP again.
i've read the new Dell's will take OS X with no hacking since almost everything is EFI bios now

Since if you would be using iTunes on the Dell it would be the exact same syncing experience. :-)
my work PC is close to 5 years old and it's an HP. cost around $700.
When you are ready come over to us dude? The MBP will be the one for you .

I am also not the only one who thinks about the apple tablet/netbook thing
http://gizmodo.com/5287488/why-macbo...-else-entirely
I hope i am clear.
peace
