There are too many other vendors and models on Amazon for a couple of show up that high. Frankly, it wouldn't even occur to me to order a PC from Amazon. Even for Macs I order from the Apple store so I can customize them (BTO).

I think I have the TRUE explanation for why this is happening though- HP has a much more 'splintered' line-up than Apple, i.e. sells significantly more models. So no one of their models really gets a chance to sell as many as, say, a mid-level 2.0GHz MacBook.

Amazing how many folks missed me figuring it out first. Ah well. \
This story has all of the gravitas and import of a headline such as "ZUNE ACHIEVED 9% (or whatever it was) OF THE MARKET SHARE OF ALL MP3 PLAYERS SOLD IN NOVEMBER 2006" ......

This site is slowly turning in a FUD central, how is reporting on Vista exactly mac news? Oh that's right, most Mac fans/Apple would rather openly insult Microsoft than actually finding a way to pursuade masses to coming over, then label it as news, submit it to digg.com and watch the sheep digg away even if what's posted is complete BS.
Apple has done something to bash Vista which makes them look even more pathetic, click this link.
How many times do they have to bash PC to persuade people to come over? Then they link "Why Vista Fails", an article over a year old and uses a beta build as it's basis for opinion. Wow Apple, you're reached a new low right up there with the low things Microsoft has done.
"Skip past Vista" No thanks, Leopard offers nothing remotely interesting and I'll wait over a year because like all new mac versions, it's best to wait until .4-.5 update.
Can Mac's play DirectX10 games? Nope. Will they ever? Possibly, with piss poor performance cause Apple always makes some bad choices in the video card department.

Let's see:
1) because Vista is the most prominent alternative to OS X, and therefore of interest to OS X users?
2) because Vista runs on Macs?

Linux runs on Macs, where's the news for each release? Oh that's right, they didn't come from Redmond so there's nothing to insult.
1) Linux is a kernel. You probably mean GNU/Linux, which exists in hundreds of flavors. Which one do you want reports on? Oh, you mean GUIs for it like GNOME?
2) Unlike Windows, Linux has a very small market share, and is therefore of limited interest.

Small market share? Wow, I guess a majority of the internet is powered by ghost machines.
I know they're not powered by OS X Server, nobody in their right mind would use that if they valued their money.

“Nearly all of the major, visible new features in Vista are already available in Apple's operating system, called Mac OS X, which came out in 2001 and received its last major upgrade in 2005. And Apple is about to leap ahead again with a new version of OS X, called Leopard, due this spring.”
David Pogue, writing for the New York Times, puts it a bit more bluntly:
“You get the feeling that Microsoft's managers put Mac OS X on an easel and told the programmers, ‘Copy that.’”
While Vista does its best to copy some features that have been in Mac OS X for years,
Gosh, it is really 'bashing' if its all true? Because it seems to be pretty accurate. \
Is that supposed to hurt me? Because you failed miserably.
No, it was supposed to amuse me. And in that it succeeded spectacularly.
Seriously dude, lighten up. No one cares if you're mad about Paul Thurott 'bashing' Vista. Its a bit comical actually, considering Thurott actually is one of the most pro-Microsoft and pro-Windows writers around... he was an editor at Windows Magazine for awhile even.

But this isn't discussing servers. It is the share of Linux on desktops/notebooks is the thing that's vanishingly small, even in comparison to OS X. Besides, I thought it was BSD running Apache that has the lion's share of UNIX web servers.
i haven't checked, but i'll wager that another reason is that the small number of mac models available vs. the large number of different pc-based models distorts the figures in apple's favour

.
I'm not mad at all, I think most of his articles are a joke but the fact that Apple links a year old article about a beta build of Vista to get your point across that your OS is superior is sad.

Plainly silly, and meaningless.

You obviously didn't read the article linked inside of that article that I mentioned.
Small market share? Wow, I guess a majority of the internet is powered by ghost machines.
The article is about a desktop OS. Mac OS X is primarily a desktop OS. "A[sic] majority of the internet[sic]" is run by servers, not desktops.
Linux runs on Macs, where's the news for each release? Oh that's right, they didn't come from Redmond so there's nothing to insult.
