I know I'm a little slow, but I just realised that we are going to get waaaay faster PowerMacs! The high-end iMac will be 800MHz, so what about the PowerMacs, which currently are dual 800 tops? YAY!
Its not widescreen and it looks like the PowerMacs will stay at current speeds for the time being. Damn it!

If the iMac comes in with an 800Mhz G4 (top of the line I assume) then yea I guess the G4 Desktop line COULD stay the same... but geez Apple sure would risk loosing sales of the 733 tower wouldn't they?
800Mhz iMac with superdive and 15" screen for $1799
733Mhz Tower without superdrive and without 15" screen for $1699

Yah that's what I figured as well but, with no broken link on the front page you have to think that they won't announced today.
Maybe teh speculation on ThinkSecret and MOSR about Apple delaying the Tower upgrade til later in teh month (or in Tokyo???) is accuarate.

Seems like something would have to change.

Good point. Maybe they'll preannounce the new towers and have them shipping later in teh month (like that would be the first time Steve ever pulled that one )

Well I thought it would be just too geeky to insist on pointing out that I registered in Dec of 1998 (a month after AI offically opened) so I decided to poke a little fun at myself for considering it in the first place .
I'm positive those specs are bogus now. They're the same ones posted by SpyMac and they list the high end iMac as having a 1 gHz G3 (with 750 on the CRT low end).

I hit the button in 1896 on Dec 31st, but it ended up getting registered in 1897 ! Man was I pissed!
Yeah, but their 'source' says the new iMac has G3s.
