What do you think will/should be the shape of the new Apple Mac Mini?

Classic, Slim or Micro/Pocket?

Which question do you want people to vote on:

What they think the shape will be?

    or

What they think the shape should be?

the poll is about your choice (and what Apple should do)

Set the lamp up to be the Minis heat sink and the action in the lava would vary with the load on the CPU. Neat!

The designs in the link don't make sense. If they could make a machine slim, they simply wouldn't make it classic size. SSD doesn't matter as they are 2.5" same as the mechanical drives. If they mean switch to 1.8" drives, nope that's not a good idea.

I also don't think the pocket size is possible due to the chips that have to go onto a motherboard. Plus there still needs sufficient cooling if it's going to be more powerful.

I would say the pocket size isn't possible and the slim one is only possible without the optical drive.

I actually think the original size is ok and it doesn't need to be any smaller. The cooling is only just sufficient as it is.

A or B. C looks incredibly stupid and Apple would never do that. :P

In fact, I'm going to go so far to say that they'll never put any kind of card reader into their systems. They're not the most attractive things, and Apple is all about the aesthetics.

And I really don't think B would leave adequate room for all the ports + exhaust, power button, etc. It does look kinda cooler though.

Honestly, I think they got it right the first time. So, I'm going with the classic.

I vote none of the designs shown. Let's get Apple to design something original. A plain plastic box just does not do it anymore. I want something that can easily change the Ram without voiding the warranty.

I think that A circular/cylinder shaped Mac Mini would be awesome.

The current mini wastes too much desk space since you can't stack anything on top. Yes, I know it's small, but it could be even smaller. Most external hard drives can stand vertically. The Dell Studio Hybrid, Xbox and PS3 can. So should the mini. In fact, point the optical drive up like the old Cube and it wouldn't need clear desk space in front of it, either. Imagine a desktop machine with a footprint of 6x2", less than 1/3 of the current mini, and it would have better cooling, too.

    I've updated my blog's post with a 4th version/proposal and its concept's image:

    D) "Pocket + Docking Station" same dimensions of a mini but sliced in two modules

(still "C" to vote in the poll)

    I like that mock up.

Stick a quad cpu in it with a 4850 for a price below £995 and I would buy it and be happy.

I think the mini if it gets smaller may as well be the Apple TV... which would be a merging of concept. The true 'Mac Mini' will be the Mac Slate/Touch if it ever turns up.

Which leaves plenty of room for the Mac Cube/X-Mac that I and others want.

    *Dreams of Mac Cube.

I voted classic, but I'd love to see a return to the cube shape.
