Those are shots of the top and bottom of the phone, places where you don't cup your hand around. It's possible that the reflections make the other edges appear more rounded, but the sides definitely do look rounded (but admittedly sharp aluminum edges wouldn't be new for Apple). Furthermore, the fact the the aluminum juts out past the screen at all, decentralizes the pressure points that would normally form at the edges (shar or not). It places more skin area in contact with the phone and reduces the chance of discomfort. Another thing the photos cannot convey is the thinness of the device. I think Apple has put a lot of thought into the ergonomics of the phone. We'll seen soon enough (well actually, not soon enough \).
wow.. i really really really hate how Gizmodo handed all this information - even disassembly photos - of a prototype to Apple's competition..
thats just not cool..seriously
there is a point where journalism ends..where is those guys' decency ..?
What info? A front-facing camera? A larger battery? LED Flash? A higher-res screen? 2nd noise canceling mic? Wake up! Other manufactures already HAD these things before Apple did! -_-
With the iPhone 4, Apple was only playing catch-up. Sure, it'll be a nice phone, but it's nothing that hasn't been done before in some other phone released this year.

Not even close. You're talking about a few extra components that Apple choose not to include, while other vendors choose to include them simply to make their product look better on a spec sheet despite not working very well. Android still doesn't have copy/paste right.
Pretty big jump in engineering which is allowing for a 16% larger battery, while being 3mm thinner, from 12.3mm down to 9.4mm. I have yet to see its equal in any other CE device.

Yeah and the same thing was said about MP3 players when the iPod came out. And look where we are in regards to that story. 70% market share in the US.
Just because it was done already.... doesn't mean it can't be done better.
Good thing there is evolution, 'cause how would a Ferrari look with wooden spoked wheels?

It is interesting that the iPhone was the most innovative phone ever made - long ago - but it is now just adding "me-too" features.
And this time next year, Andorid will have updated and added lots of cool stuff, and Apple will be further behind.
I predict that by this time next year, the screen on the i4 will look tiny. And that there will be lots of people who want to do all the cool stuff available only on Android. And that the iPhone will be seen as yesterday's news.

At a maximum, they should have reported seeing it, touching it, and such...without the photos. Then returned it to Apple. They went too far and should be prosecuted, those are trade secrets. Once they knew it was definitely an Apple product, they should have pulled the posts. Instead they did follow ups, which to me, is ridiculous.
So now they've almost caught up to Android. Some of us were hoping for innovation.
No, they haven't quite yet....first they'd have to have an open software and hardware platform that would cause segregation in the market. Then they would have games and other apps that work on some devices but not others because of multiple buggy operating systems that freeze constantly. Did I leave anything out?

You talk as if Android phones don't have their own basket of problems. I'm not going to do your homework for you.
All I can say is... I predict that at this time next year you'll be completely wrong and the iPhone will have another record quarter.

Yes - you left out that freedom to install software of one's choice on Android devices is just like Windows, but curiously, nothing like OS X on the Mac.

What are the chances this is iGenius or MacTripper under yet another name?
Haven't you realized that Apple has never had the most features to list on a spec sheet yet they are the most popular because the features they do offer work well and are easy to use. Q1-2010, the quarter that the Nexus One and other Android phones took flight yet they barely got off the ground, but the iPhone 3GS on the bottom half of its life cycle not only beat the previous YoY sales but also best the Holiday quarter making records sales again.
Apparently having features that work is more important to users that simply having features. Just like the Japanese and Korean markets having such advanced phones that no Western device could penetrate those markets, especially not the iPhone.

Oh, you mean like UI glitches, viruses, malware, and spyware? Oh yeah, I DID leave that out! Man, I really need to check the App Store now because they now have 180,000 apps. I guess I CAN do anything on the iPhone...it's okay...don't cry...

You know what, we'll consider ourselves notified. Now go buy the Incredible (or whatever it is that you're interested in) and stop going on about how much better Android is. We can decide for ourselves which phone is/will be better for us. Meanwhile, we'll see where this all is this time next year.

I am aware that Android is far from perfect.
I wonder if Apple is no longer nimble enough. In this day and age, one cellphone update per year is a strategy that will inevitably lead to increasing lag time.
I wouldn't be surprised if the iPhone had another record quarter. It is a very viable product. It may be yesterday's news a year from now, but there will still be plenty of buyers; I don't see the volume dropping.
Cutting edge stuff rarely outsells "good enough" stuff from a trusted source. That is why Apple does not target geeks.

The only true question that remains at this point is... will it come in white?
Currently, White = "too cheap to get a MBP".
I don't see it happening.
Just make sure you don't accidentally eat yours when you get it.
I certainly wouldn't be the first to do so

The edge of the aluminum to the glass does not look rounded or beveled. View the full size of the image above and look above the right speaker/mic.
Oops. Look at image 9. I've edited my post.
Edit 2: You can see that it's not beveled even easier on image 7. http://gizmodo.com/5520155/gal-1//gallery/7

I can already imagine people calling it the iCe Cream Sandwich phone.
When I was first looking at the pictures of the prototype I did indeed think it had a faint resemblance to my favorite sandwich.

Decade after decade, Ferrari comes out with best-in-class or exclusive technology. They never play catch-up.
For Apple to be a cellphone Ferrari, they need to step up their R&D.

They are journalists. This is news. They have a responsibility to YOU, and not to some big multinational corporation like Apple.
;
Journalists? LMAO. Gizmodo is more of a tech-rag. Have you visited it lately?

I agree with the necessity mentioned here of some more polishing of the design. But I like the design a lot.
Reminds me of this: http://www.choice247.net/eshop/images/sonyericsson1.jpg
I, for one, am happy about the design, particularly a more resistant and flat back (I don't care about the front facing camera though)
Oh, I had this phone it was awesome. The Bluetooth SMS notifications and reply capability on my Mac was sweet.
As far as this new phone I was really hoping for a bigger screen. Has anyone seen that Sprint EVO ... so tempting.

You missed my point. Could of said <insert car manufacture> and still gotten my point across.
My point was... never mind, if I have to explain it, then you don't get it and won't get it.
