The Tick. The live action version.

    Farging brilliant.

    I'm serious.

And I know Andy Richter is coming back as a mid-season replacement, but I fear for the show if the idjits at Fox didn't put it on the schedule for the fall.....

I love weird dead-pan humor, and both of these shows did/do it well.

The show I missed the most when it was gone was Northern Exposure, esp. the first couple of years.

Here's a few off the top of my head.

First and foremost, the Upright Citizen's Brigade. Goddamned if that wasn't a brilliant show.

The Critic. (And the online episodes suck.)

    Everyone's favorite cancelled show, MST3k.

    Dr. Katz was teh best.

    MacGyver 0wnz j00 all!!1!

Freaks and Geeks was damn good as well.

Can't think of any more right now. Man oh man, I really miss UCB, though.

Gandalf the Semi-Coherent, you are right. Alias is crap and and a rip-off. It's like Starwars I, it's just terrible acting, no point to the show.

Eugene way to be! Freaks and Geeks was so great! Have you noticed how all the actors went on to big projects? I saw the main girl's (what's her name!?) nervous nerdy friend there before I got a Dish and saw her as Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then American Pie (ah Alyson Hannigan) That son of the Green Goblin in Spiderman was the chief Freak. He also was James Dean in a TNT movie. I liked his character. I can't remember where but I saw the other freaks and also geeks in other movies or shows...

    Dark Angel. Jessica Alba:-D

Futurama. Much better Simpsons replacement than King of the Hill, true.

The Pretender. If you watched from the beginning you understand. Anyone know a way I could see this Conan O'Brien Michael T Weiss (Jared) was on?

Hehe for you Daria fans.. I was flipping through channels on DirecTV one day and noticed that Noggin, a kid's channel like PBS (they have Ghostwriter etc) reruns Daria! It's kind of like Nickelodeon with SpongeBob SquarePants, you watch the channel for a single show

I wanted to see Sliders but never did. Never seen the Tick but I hear about it all the time MacGyver was cool (who else could make a nuclear bomb from ducktape, a piece of string, and a toilet seat?!) Isn't MacGyver the guy from StarGate SG1?

Nice thread. Is there any way besides Hotline I can ever see shows I never got into like the Tick? Or get all The Pretender episodes?

Freaks and Geeks rocks. Unfortunately, it's relegated to the post midnight slot down here and the network which screens it just shoves it around so it's not always easy to catch. Bit disappointed to hear that it is already over to be honest!

OK, here's 3 old shows I loved and wished I could still see:

Hill St Blues - the original Bochco "cop show". (In fact, legend has it that it was almost cancelled after its first season except for a very loyal and vocal viewer base that protested to the network which had planned to give it the axe!)

30 something - self indulgent ramblings from a bunch of yuppies, but I was an addict during my uni days.

Seinfeld - although I am actually happy that they left on a good note b/c it didn't leave a bitter aftertaste when I think back on it, unlike say *cough* The Simpsons *cough*

Seinfeld was good. Fox 5 New York reruns it. Ironically I saw the last episode first. Then I just started watching the show last year. I saw Jurassic Park 2 before I saw 1.

These are the shows you come up with?

    The Tick, The Critic..........WTF?

These shows had funny moments, but you compare them to shows like Seinfeld?

Number One Blunder by a network in cancelling a show: Star Trek. Worst Move Ever.

I miss the show Homeboys in Outer Space. It was a really stupid show about two black guys in space with a car "ship" called the Hooptie... It was one of those funny because it was so sad kinda shows. Of course, this aired on UPN, the best network in the world... Other shows I miss:

Voltron (If you notice in their theme song, they say, "to bring back...," and never tell you what they want to "bring back." Pretty funny stuff.)

    Thundercats (Thundercats! Thundercats! HOOO!!)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the game was awesome too)

Tale Spin (I always wanted to fly like Kit!)

I Love Lucy (How can you not love have loved this show??)

Seinfeld (Last episode was horrible, but good overall)

Ghostbusters the animated series (Slimer was the bomb)

Futurama (one of those new classics!)

Family Guy (another one of those new classics!)

Batman the ORIGINAL animated series (the ones that were on fox, although the new beyond ones on the WB are pretty good. Did anyone notice how Superman and Batman look alike in the new animated series?)

Tales from the Crypt (that crypt guy was soo funny)

M.C. Hammer the animated cartoon (another funny because it was sad kinda show)

    Dinosaurs (that baby was funny)

Jetsons (who didn't want one of those cars or a robot maid??)

Small Wonder (A robot girl! What a classic!)

Saved by the Bell (the early years were fun)

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago? (I thought this was an awesome show! Why did they cancel it?? Stupid PBS)

Bill Nye the Science Guy ( another cool show... stupid PBS! Not getting my money!)

TV Nation. Michael Moore before he dissolved into a liberal-or-die mentally sedentary puppet boy.

Wow, this is bringing back memories.

    My favorite animateds:

Dungeon and Dragons - like, did they ever get home? Great Japanese-style animation.

ALF Tales - wicked social commentary that kids wouldn't get (okay, so I watched cartoons way into my 20s)

    TV:

    Quantum Leap

    'V'

Hmm... I was born in 1980 and we had so many classic cartoons in that time until the early 90s.

I like the concept of ESPN Classic for sports, but I would like to see a Cartoon Classic by the Cartoon Network. They play too many new cartoons for my taste. I want my kids to watch DuckTales and Ninja Turtles. They were awesome!!!

I also am going to learn kung fu sometime in the next few years so I can star in "Kung Fu- The Legend Continues Again!"

I loved that show. I can be the next kung fu cop!!!

Or wait- does anyone remember this show...

    Parker Lewis Can't Lose???

    Is that it?

It was incredibly funny I thought. Then it just ended. It was like a Ferris Beuller or Weird Science kind of show. Great stuff!!!
