As of today (September 19), I have 1417 songs (3.5 days and 5.3GB).
Probably 1/3 of my collection was downloaded from a year or two ago (God bless Napster and Limewire), and - because I didn't know any better or even care - the bulk of those are at 128kbps (although a few are 160kbps). Nothing, however, is below 128.
The remaining 2/3 of my iTunes collection are from actual CDs I own (all my Beatles, Petty, Crow, Isaak, Yoakam, Fleetwood Mac, Earle, Emmylou, Morrison, Stones, CCR, various individual acts that I only own one CD by, like a greatest hits, such as ABBA, Steve Miller Band, Foster & Lloyd, Duran Duran, The Pretenders, Buck Owens, Haggard, George Jones, etc., bands I only own one CD by and bought them for only 1 or 2 songs, like Everclear, Sara Evans and BR5-49, and TONS of compilation CDs - 80's, new wave, disco, country, surf, rockabilly, bluegrass, etc.
I've got a wide-ranging, goofy collection of music!
And all of those are encoded at iTune's default setting of 160 kbps, which, for me, is totally fine works good enough for custom mix CDs and (eventual) iPod usage. Gonna buy myself an iPod for Christmas...the 10GB model.
don't remember the exact number...and I'm not on my computer and its internet is not working right now
but Its right around;
2100 hand-picked quality mp3s
and about 300 random this and thats I picked up or were given to me, or whatever
so 2400 total
6 days of music
6 primary genres...but they are loosley organized, sutff that might get a different name to some people is just widely assimilated in one of my folders
but then again, maybe I shiouldn't post here, cause I don't use iTunes(still on soundjam)
at any rate I got many many different artists and a rather eclectic selection spanning from pop-rap(dr. dre) to abscure electronic(plone)
I like my mp3s
though I recently decided to do my best to purchase all the albums I snitched over the past year or so....it will be a slow process and I probably won't get every last one of them but generally I would like to chime in some.
I've got 7 Gigs 1,851 songs. I've only recently started ripping my cd collection. If I really start getting into it I'm gonna need another hard drive, especially if I get off my lazy ass and start ripping my record collection.
