I didn't like Biggie's flow. I didn't like the whole "eating while I'm rapping" sound he had. Also, he lacked passion, like he was just reading the lyrics. Again, just opinions.
While I dispute Tupac's status as a viable "artist", contend that he's nothing close to a "poet" and believe he was generally a romanticized misogynist prick, he was certainly one of the most talented rappers ever (in terms of actual rapping ability, or "flow" as you kids call it).
Big Fattie, however, was just boring. And he most likely *was* eating while he was rapping. Like Mama Cass.
Also, you don't get much whiter than me. I'm not hardcore by any stretch of the imagination and don't fancy myself any kind of thug or even someone who is remotely "hip".
I play racquetball 4 times a week. I like Hank Williams III. I own Pink Floyd albums. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is my favorite author. The only thing "hard" about me is my head.
I have no clue which rapper is "cooler", I just know that one was good at what he did and the other was fat and boring.

well he couldn't have been reading because if u ask people about how he recorded albums you'd find out that he'd go into the studio and they'd play the beat, he'd listen to it for a little and then say he is ready and bust it out and have it memorized without ever writing it down. also i'm confused on how people think it sounded like he is eating while he is rapping? pick a song and then send it to me over AOL IM (ast3r3x), i just do not hear it, perhaps you think all larger people sound like they are eating when they talk?
as for not having passion in what he says its because he wasn't trying to act hardcore and scream, he was just cool and casual. his raps were smooth, and clean.

i guess i'll settle at it being personal prefrense, but i don't see you being able to sit back and chill with pac in the background, it just doesn't fit with me
I don't/can't sit back and chill listening to Tupac, I find him repugnant on many levels. I don't actually like any of his music, but I respect his vocal talent. I have only one of his mp3s ("Hit 'Em Up") that I will play occassionally to amuse myself and my roommate (same reason I have "Bling Bling" and garbage like that).
I have listened to some (not much, admittedly) Notorious B.I.G. and I was unimpressed on all levels and found myself wondering what the big deal was.
I definitely like hip-hop, though, I've liked it since I was a little guy buying Public Enemy tapes and CDs were the shiny and expensive toys of the well-off.
As a matter of fact, WinAmp just started playing "Da Mystery of Chessboxin'".
My problem isn't so much that I don't like Biggie; I don't have a problem with him. My problem is that he sucked. His lyrics were simple, his flow was simplistic as well, he lacked creativity, and, I'm sorry, but he REALLY did sound like he was stuffing his face at the same time he was trying to rap. His lyrics were sometimes muffled, and he didn't pronounciate well. The only time he didn't sound muffled was when he was sped up, post recording.
I like Pac's style because he half-sung, half rapped. I just like that better. Sorry if you don't agree.
