To be fair though, you have to say the same thing about carriers and manufacturers when you buy an Android based phone. They prevent you from getting a pure Android experience with their overlaying UI's and prevent you from updating Google's OS... Unless of course you root, but then isn't that the same as iPhone users that jailbreak?
From everything I've seen and heard, even when jailbreakers buy some programs, they also pirate others.
For example, most of them download a stolen copy and justify it by saying that it is "for evaluation" or some such nonsense. They claim that they pay for some of these programs.

I've never pirated an app. I've purchased many jailbreak apps and tweaks that enhance the performance of my 4S.
I hope for everybody else's sake that you never in your life procreate. Drinking for the sole purpose of getting drunk, getting girls drunk so you can defile them, and turning your future kids onto illegal substances. You would make a great father.

And yes, I obviously would rather have any future kids of mine occasionally using a harmless substance like marijuana instead of a much more dangerous, addictive substance like alcohol which kills people every single day. Just because something happens to be illegal at this moment in time, that doesn't necessarily make it bad. Do you not have a proper understanding of US history and the reasons behind why certain things are legal and other things are illegal? It's only a matter of time before it's fully legal in most States.
It seems as if your kids are in far greater danger than any hypothetical, future kids that I may ever have. One important thing that I'd teach my kids, is to be informed and to be able to think for themselves.

I have been using Apple products since 1995 for audio work. ProTools and Logic etc. I would NEVER buy anything but Apple. I live in Japan and jailbreak for the app called TetherMe because Softbank doesn't let you tether iOS devices on one plan like they do in Canada. They are blood suckers.
There are little things you can do to your iPhone called Tweaks and most of them are actually free. eg. unlimited scrolling icons on the dock, tweaks that stop iTunes apps from sending Address Book contacts data to the servers of those iTunes apps etc. There are countless iTunes apps that send your contacts data to their servers for "whatever BS reasons".
My iPhone 4's home button is not in good shape because of almost two years of wear and tear. I have tweaks on my phone that totally free my from the home button JUST AS STEVE JOBS WANTED TO DO. One tap of the status bar and I'm at home. Two taps of the status bar and I'm app switching.
I have an account with Amazon and BUY everything from Cydia that has a price tag.

If someone or a group of people want to hack it to do something cool, that is our right! now, that said, Apple absolutely has the right to disable it too, as the ios updates are their property, but hey, I have the right to not run the update if I know or suspect that it will interact negatively with my unsupported use. ...
Except in the case of Siri, enabling it on non-4S hardware is theft of services, so you don't have any "right" to do so.
